Engine Clarification

In 1998, the Navigator debuted with a 5.4L 2V (16-valve) SOHC V8 sourced from the Expedition/F150.
In 1999, the 5.4L 2V was replaced with the Lincoln specific "Intech" 5.4L 4V (32-valve) DOHC V8.
In 2005, the "Intech" 5.4L 4V was replaced by the 2004 F150's 5.4L 3V (24-valve) SOHC V8.
These are the facts, please refrain from reverting correct information in the future.

FYI the 3v is called "Triton" in all ford literature. CJ DUB 17:37, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Whichever the case, you will need to stop this slow but persistent edit war. Find a solution on the talk page first but do not revert back and forth. Signaturebrendel 18:22, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are wrong: [http://www.lincoln.com/navigator/models.asp

http://www.lincoln.com/navigator/models.asp]. Have a look at the features and specs of the vehicle, then change the page, as me and the other guy have suggested. Here is an excerpt "5.4L SOHC Three-Valve V-8 Engine Navigator’s 5.4L Triton® Three-Valve SOHC V-8 engine provides impressive off-the-line acceleration." Please show me how this is called the Intech engine if you can. CJ DUB 13:22, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Early model navigators have the intech engine. It was never offered in any Ford badged truck/suv.

WE NEED TO HAVE MORE HORSEPOWER 400+

I took out the engine tables because they're not necessary. The Navigator never offered more than one kind of engine in any given model year, not to mention the fact that only three different engines have used in its entire existance. I'll soon be filling in the empty spaces with additional information on each generation and do the Lincoln Navigator article justice.--MN12Fan (talk) 09:45, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transmission

I believe that the transmission in the 2003-2006 Navigators was a 5-speed not a 6-speed

You would be wrong. 2003 and 2004 Navigators had the Ford 4R100 4-speed, 2005 and newer received the ZF 6-speed. TheBalance 14:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this information is incorrect. The 4R100 was discontinued after 2002. For 2003-2004 the Navigators had the wide-ratio 4R75W which was previously used in lighter applications such as the Mustang, Mercury Marauder and F-150 trucks with the smaller 4.6L engine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.169.149.218 (talk) 05:32, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This should have a 400+hp engine like the competitor!!

*Notice*

Someone wrote the Navigator got the Ford 6R80 6-Speed for the 2007 model year, this is incorrect. The Navigator got the Ford 6R80 for the 2009 model year. The Navigator received the German ZF 6HP26 6-Speed Automatic for the 2005 model year. It kept this transmission up to the 2008 model year.

2007 and 2008 model year Navigators have the letter code "G" under TR (for Transmission) on the manufacturer’s Safety Compliance Label, located in the driver’s door jamb. The letter "G" indicates (6HP26)

2009 model year Navigators have the number code "6" under TR (for Transmission) on the manufacturer’s Safety Compliance Label, located in the driver’s door jamb. The number "6" indicates (6R80)

This information was obtained by looking at all third generation model years (2007, 2008, 2009) on the vehicles, and all model years (2007, 2008, 2009) on the vehicle’s owner manual. Both match up. Feel free to research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pephp (talkcontribs) 00:53, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

$100k Navigators

The Navigator does NOT start at $60k and does NOT range up to $100k in price. PLease make sure your information is correct! Only with heavy customization can a Navigator cost up to $100k. But then again any car, even a Toyota Corrolla, could technically be customized to cost $100k. Signaturebrendel 19:01, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Corrected outlandishly incorrect pricing information and false Aviator information. Aviator is not in any way related to the MKX--it is a Ford Explorer-based vehicle. The MKX might be considered its replacement for the 2007 model year. --KJRehberg 05:04, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Owner's List

I am removing the owner's list at the end of the week as it was discussed in the Maserati MC12 article that came to light in the Ferrari Enzo page, which although referenced, but when submitted for peer review, several people said to remove the list. If there is any objections feel free to mention it here. Willirennen 11:02, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone define Owner's List?

Enough with the image warring

Will you all just cut it out, please? White background is preferable to clutter. --Sable232 17:36, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Remove 3rd Generation Classification

I believe that this should be labeled as an update to the second generation, because that is all it is. No new chassis, same greenhouse and overall design. Anyone agree?

I don't know what you mean by "greenhouse" but I agree with you. Except for a new front fascia and updated interior it is pretty much the same car and recognizable as such. Regards, Signaturebrendel 05:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I talk about the "greenhouse" that is the shape of the cabin. If you look, the doors, mirrors, windows, and basic sheetmetal are the same. This said I will now incorporate the "third gen" into the second, and delete the third gen designation.

Thanks for clarifying. The shape of the cabin has definitely remained the same. Signaturebrendel 19:55, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was the third generation section restored? There has not been a 3rd generation Navigator yet. The 2007-present Navigator is what is called a refreshening in the auto industry. The chassis and major components are all the same as the 2003-2006 Navigators. A new generation is when there is a new chassis or a significant re-do of the vehicle, the "so called 3rd Gen." Navigator is none of these. Red.66mustang (talk) 11:57, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Competition with the Escalade

The article says that the first generation Navigator competed only with the Cadillac Escalade, but at first not even this was the case. Cadillac dealers were livid that they had nothing to compete with the Lincoln Navigator. Cadillac's front office remained in denial for a bit, before finally badging-up the GMC Yukon Denali as the first Escalade.

Or at least that's how I remember it from ten years ago. If this is the case, I think that the relevant section of the article should be written to reflect it. TJSwoboda (talk) 01:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Future Updates

Rumors have gone around that the 2009 Navigator and possibly the Expedition will receive the 320 horsepower (240 kW) 5.4 L Triton

V8 from the new 2009 F-150 truck. Also, the upcoming 6.2 L Boss
V8 may make its way into the Navigator once it arrives. Edmunds and Motor Trend also have spied a Navigator with Ford's new 4.4 L diesel. Expect this motor to be making its way into the Navigator, F-150, and possibly the Super Duty and the Navigator's twin, the Expedition.

All may be true but without any official word from Ford verifying it there was no need for this information in the main article.--MN12Fan (talk) 09:21, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was no predecessor to the Navigator

The Navigator was the first SUV sold by Lincoln, so it doesn't make sense that the sidebox has a predecessor and successor considering there is no talk of one. Anthony Guidetti (talk) 04:31, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was just some gibberish an IP added a few weeks ago that wasn't caught. It's been reverted, thanks for pointing it out. --Sable232 (talk) 04:50, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
