In case the "Origin and Growth of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly" source goes dead

In case this source (retrieved 27 July 2018) goes dead, a copy has been saved here.—indopug (talk) 10:25, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A few notes on errors in the sources

The main source for the tenures of the CMs is a list on the West Bengal Assembly website, archived here. It has the following errors, which have been corrected using other sources:

  1. The date when Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee's second term as CM ended is given as 30 July 1970 in CMs list in the Assembly website. However, an essay (click "Origin and growth" on the top left to avoid the 500 error) on the same site says "Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, the Chief Minister, resigned on the 16th March, 1970. The then Governor, ... recommended President's Rule ... on the 19th March, 1970. The Assembly was suspended on the 19th March, 1970 ... and subsequently dissolved on the 30th July, 1970." Mukherjee's profile on the site and the CPI(M)'s history of West Bengal (pp. 6–7) concur with this.
  2. The date when Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee's third term began is given as 2 March 1971 in CMs list in the Assembly website. This seems to be a simple error, as elections were ongoing in March 1971. The date of 2 April 1971 is given by the "Origin and growth" essay ("six parties, ... formed Democratic Coalition Ministry with Shri Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee as the Chief Minister on the 2nd April, 1971"), his profile page and another govt source.
  3. The date when Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee's third term as CM ended is given as 25 June 1971 in CMs list in the Assembly website. However, the "Origin and growth" essay says "On the 28th June, 1971, the Chief Minister tendered the resignation of his Council of Ministers and the President's rule under Article 356 of the Constitution was again imposed on the State on the 29th June, 1971"; the CPI(M)'s account concurs with this.—indopug (talk) 15:09, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Prime Minister

Before 26th January 1950, every State's or Province's head of government was called Prime Minister or Premier. Thus from 1947-1950, there was a prime minister or premier of West Bengal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4060:2D8C:FD1F:715E:4A6A:477B:4243 (talk) 06:18, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
