Hey…if there aren't any sources…

Not only do none of the pre-1982 United States lists have any cited sources, but most of the data listed is made up. You can go to Box Office Mojo or The Numbers and find grosses for a handful of these movies that are not what these lists say were number ones. They are most likely the
gross rentals from Variety (which they discontinued in the 1990s). The reporting of box office grosses didn't really begin until the late 1970s. Box Office Mojo only goes back to 1982 because there is too much missing data prior to this period to give accurate figures. Betty Logan (talk) 11:39, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply

1960 to 1981 in the United States were all deleted as hoaxes after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of 1971 box office number-one films in the United States and Special:Permalink/820251196#Need an admin to oversee an AfD case. I have removed from this list. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:28, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This has sure made me look like a muppet! Betty Logan (talk) 15:30, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Change the layout of the list of box office number one films

The layout on this is too hard to understand and it needs to be brought back to it's original layout as seen on this diff. BattleshipMan (talk) 08:19, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You need to take it up with W like wiki since he is the editor who undertook the alterations, but maybe you could tell us exactly what is hard to understand? It looks relatively straightforward to me. Countries across the top, years down the side and you read off the list like a map coordinate. Betty Logan (talk) 11:02, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Problem is that the years of film will need to linked to the exact year of the films release, but with this layout, it's very hard. It stretches out horizontally and the old layout was better vertically. BattleshipMan (talk) 02:33, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You basically have two options as I see it: i) Discuss it with the person who changed it; ii) Put it back to how it was before if you think it's a superior version. Betty Logan (talk) 13:08, 12 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm putting this back the way it was. It's too hard the way it is now. BattleshipMan (talk) 17:00, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
