Lyde Browne's name

The Oxford Encyclopedia of Ancient Greece and Rome, Volume 1, section 5, page 11, calls him John Lyde-Brown. (The link is to Google Books.)

So does the Hermitage Museum English language website http://www.hermitagemuseum.org/html_En/05/hm5_1_11.html

Further confusion is created by the portrait referred to in the article, which is entitled Miss Frances Lyde Browne. If her father's surname was Browne, she would normally be called Miss Frances Browne, rather than incorporating her father's first name into her own surname.

Are there other definitive sources that confirm whether his name was John Lyde-Brown or Lyde Browne? Perhaps the Hermitage Museum archives have original documentary evidence of the sale, which give the seller's name. However, as original research, this is outside the scope of Wikipedia and would have to be pursued by an art academic. Adrian Robson (talk) 12:18, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
