When did Mimsie die? Because on St. Elsewhere, at the end of the final episode, a cat is dead.

The tag redirects here, but there's no mention in the article of the cat at all. I mean, I grew up staring at the little booger at least a couple times a day almost all of my childhood after watching my favorite shows. It would be nice to know a little bit about the cat -- I'm not requesting a huge biography or anything, as in number of mice eaten during his lifetime or his first litter-box usage... Did he belong to Mary Tyler Moore and Grant Tinker? Is there an anecdote involving him? Did Mary (with tears in eyes, of course) tell a tale of a cute little stray that showed up at the studio and they just had to film him? Or did they say, "Hey, we need a logo with a kitten on it to make fun of MGM -- go to the Pound and get one"?
