Minor modifications

Hello

- I've changed "French Open" and "US Open" expressions into "French Championships" and "US Championships" because even though they are the modern common expressions, at the time these championships were strictly forbidden to the official professional players and then these tournaments were not "open" at all but "close". I should have written "French amateur Championships" and "US amateur Championships" but I didn't want to be too heavy (for information the pro counterparts, i.e. the 1961, 1964 French Pro and the 1965 U.S. Pro tournaments were all won by Ken Rosewall)

- In 1968 and in 1984 (Edberg winner) tennis was only a demonstration sport and not an official Olympic Games competition so nor Santana neither Edberg are official Olympic Games winners.

- Are you sure that Santana's victory at Wimbledon was a surprise ? He has won Forest Hills amateur (your "U.S. Open") 10 months before on grass and in the 1965 Challenge Round in Sydney on grass at White City, 6 and 1/2 months before he has beaten Emerson in four sets and extended Stolle to five sets. Emerson and Stolle were perhaps the 1966 Wimbledon favourites but Santana was just behind them. Santana's victory would have been a surprise if the professionals players Laver, Rosewall, Gonzales and Gimeno had been allowed to play.

Grass courts

Two thirds of the Lead was taken up with the bold views of Santana (and others) against grass courts, yet there is nothing in the article about this, in particular why he held this position. In the meantime, I have deleted the second part of that Lead para as a clear copyvio (one minor change of phrase position only). Easier to write a better lead when there is substantive text to summarise.Davidships (talk) 14:23, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
