Muir's accent

In heavily Latino neighborhoods in 1970s-80s Southern California, like Venice and Oxnard, some non-Latino white kids who grew up in those areas adapted cholo slang and the use of Calo. This phenomenon seemed to exist until the rise in popularity of hip-hop culture made African-American street style more popular among young non-Latino whites than Latino street style. Muir, having grown up in East Venice in that era, was one of the non-Latino white kids who tried to talk like a cholo.

  • He does the persona of Rudy, a "cholo" on KROQ; idk if that's his normal talk.

Should that also be added too, to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.24.187.169 (talk) 07:21, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • He does NOT do the character Rudy on KROQ. That is "Psycho Mike" Michael Catherwood. You got the wrong "Psycho Mike." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.93.106.16 (talk) 06:28, 30 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@24.24.187.169 that isn't Mike Muir, that's Mike Catherwood 47.156.86.67 (talk) 04:37, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Crips Bandana?

SoCal Chicanos have been wearing blue bandanas for years. Blue is the Southsider ("sureno") color. Probably doesn't have anything to do with "Crips" in this case. Especially since these guys started out dressing and talking like cholos.

  • Yeah, that's funny. I changed it, since there was never any rumors about him, or Suicidal being Crips. But, there were rumors of Muir being affiliated with Venice 13 (which he isn't). Everyone that knows anything about suididal or Venice knows about the Venice 13 rumor. The article used to read: "Muir has often been seen wearing a blue bandana, (leading to rumors that he and Suicidal Tendencies were affiliated with L.A. gang the Crips)...," but now it reads: "Muir has often been seen wearing a blue bandana, jerseys with the number 13, and hats with block style letters that read "Venice;" leading to false rumors that he and Suicidal Tendencies are affiliated with the L.A. Sureno gang Venice 13." However, this info needs a citation.24.181.225.253 (talk) 07:03, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More Info Needed?

"He has frequently criticized rap-metal group Rage Against the Machine[citation needed]." Why? Shouldn't this be elaborated on?24.181.225.253 (talk) 07:07, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-RATM?

Okay I understand that you can not like rap-metal, even if it's RATM, but still I have trouble imagining someone CRITISIZING their messages. Didn't suicidal tendencies and RATM tour together? And in my opinion Do What I Tell Ya! is a friendly mock song, not a hostile parody. Does anyone have any other facts? It would be bad to make people think Mike hates RATM, IF he doesn't. --86.61.67.169 20:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to wiki, Muir ripped on RATM for having a corporate label, Epic. But also according to wiki, a label Muir has worked for is also Epic. NoMoreNameOptions (talk) 02:25, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

RATM beef and stripping of context

The RATM page elucidates both Muir's criticism -- which is akin to saying vegans who work at Burger King are evil -- and Morello's reply. By contrast, this page has virtually the identical wording regarding the former's criticism, but no whiff of the reply. To quote His Excellency the Honourable Bob Rae, What bullshit is this? 142.188.181.113 (talk) 02:07, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
