Is this a separate city?

Census notes down

Mirzapur-cum-Vindhyachal as one municipal board. Also, district website has a page on the m.b.: here, which confirms the municipal board name. This page should be merged with the municipal board page. Comments?--GDibyendu (talk

Before the establishment of the town, the area was a dense forest and freely used by various states like Varanasi (A.K.A.:-Benaras), Sakteshgarh, Vijaygarh, Nainagarh (Chunar), Naugarh, Kantit and Rewa for Hunting.. Over the time Mirzapur became a famous trading center of Central India and started trading of cotton, and silk at very large scale. The East India Company named this place as Mirzapur. The meaning of mirzapur literally means “child of the ruler".[reply]

Recent clean up reverted

I recently did some clean up, removing some lists of places that are not considered encyclopedic (see

WP:NOTGUIDE) and moving the section on time calculation to a less prominent position. Since these changes were reverted without comment I replaced them and hope to start a discussion here about my edits. Jojalozzo 16:17, 19 November 2013 (UTC)[reply

Requests to list only notable sites

I placed comments in the tourisn section requesting only notable sites be added. One of these comments was removed without comment and I restored it with a request to discuss it here before further action in the article. Wikipedia is not a directory or a guidebook and the purpose of the article is not to encourage people to visit Mirzapur. Let's keep this article informative without lists of places to go and things to do. Jojalozzo 20:03, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
