In the February, 2007 issue on page 13, editor Catterson says magazine was begun in 1912. I couldn't find this corroborated on the web, but included the fact when categorizing this article under 1912 establishments. --

Dexter Ford Controversy

What do you guys think about adding a section regarding Dexter Ford's firing? I think it's notable and it's pertinent because it speaks to the reliability of the magazine as an unbiased source of news. All the he said/she said accusations about what went on behind the scenes and who fired whom for what reason at Motorcyclist are just so much gossip. The facts can never be reliably verified, and even if they could, it's not a fit subject for an encyclopedia. However, the larger issue -- what constitutes a good helmet standard, and are the manufacturers being straight with the public -- is a fit subject for the article

I disagree that it isn't fit for an encyclopedia. There are many articles about organizations that include a section on controversy/criticisms. If verified, (which it is, by Dexter Ford himself) this would speak to the larger issue of Motorcyclist Magazine's standing as a reputable news source, which is clearly questionable having read all of the source material in the above article. But, I won't disagree that it might be a bit thin on sources, which does perhaps make it unfit for this page. At least for now. --Largerockstyle (talk) 23:03, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
