Great movie, thinking about developing article further, some questions

1. Can we source interviews? I have surfed the net and there are several revealing interviews of the director, stars, etc. talking about the motivation, themes, promotion, casting, etc.

2. Some plot questions (I've seen the movie, but just not sure I grasped all the details and not planning to rewatch):

A. When Ellis gets the help stuff from Tom it looked like a roll of cash and something else (stickers?) what was that.

B. After the shooting scene, we see Mud lying in the boat at night. Was Tom in the little boat with him (I mean shown to be, versus implied?)

C. Also after wards we see some object floating past Gayland as he is diving. What was it and is it something symbolic? (looked like a body).

D. Actually the combination of B and C was confusing to me. I didn't know if Mud was dead or alive. Was that intentional or just me not paying attention? [Off topic: almost seems that the movie would be better if B and C were skipped as scenes and we just had Ellis wonder if Mud was alive...and then show the last scene with Tom and the boat going to the Gulf.

Hello,
WP:FILMPLOT that say to describe events onscreen as basically as possible. As a plot summary, it's meant to serve as context to complement the rest of the article about the film. A summary should be between 400 and 700 words, but unfortunately most editors push the high end of the range to get in as much detail as possible. Just worth considering that we do not have to do that here. Let me know if you have any questions! Erik (talk | contribs) 18:45, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply

I won't make the plot too long. I just find to really write a stellar article, you want to understand more than just what ends up in the text. Just like the shoot more reels than make it into distribution. TCO (talk) 19:02, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
To belatedly answer some of your plot questions: 2A. The stickers were boat registration stickers for the state of Arkansas. Boat registration must be renewed every year or so, depending on the state, and having current stickers makes it less likely to be stopped by officials. 2B. It was not Mud lying in the boat, but rather Galen's helper, who was dozing while Galen was diving at night with his new lighted diving helmet. 2C. As Galen was diving, he saw a body float by on the surface. I have to assume this was Mud before Tom went after him. Galen's helper would not have seen the body, since he was asleep. Spoiler warning

The plot needs to have a spoiler warning. Or the article rewritten to include a Summary Section that is Spoiler Free. Yes, I agree that Plots don't generally need a Spoiler Warning, but since this film is still new to many people, I think the Plot Section without a Spoiler warning does people an extreme disservice by describing the movie in such detail. If I had any of that plot section before seeing the movie yesterday, I would have had the distinct "pleasure" of having had the movie ruined for me. 70.116.1.237 (talk) 14:56, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No it doesn't, as per
WP:SPOILERS. If you don't want to know the plot of the film, then don't come to this page. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 15:00, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply

I have to agree with Lugnuts above. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it strives for completeness. It is not in a position to "tease" readers about the film. It provides a plot summary to make the real-world context in the article body understandable. The best improvement we can make here is to provide the premise in the lead section (which lacks one at the moment), but the plot summary is necessarily complete. Length of Plot summary

Plot sumaries on WIkipedia are supposed to be 400 to 700 words long. This one was considerably longer. I trimmed it down to 728 words, and I may be able to get it below that if I have another go. Thanks, Invertzoo (talk) 02:10, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update: word count of plot summary is now down to 662. Invertzoo (talk) 02:18, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
