I am the subject of this article, and I would like to request a few edits.

1. The article currently states "Shanahan is on the six-person ethics board for Texan startup Lucid.AI as of 2016 ...". I never played any active role in the ethics board for this company. I would really appreciate it if this part of the sentence was deleted.

2. The article describes my views on when AGI (artificial general intelligence) might be developed. But all the sources date back to the mid 2010s, and it is unrepresentative of my current opinion. More recently I have stated that we don't know when AGI will be developed, because an unknown number of conceptual breakthroughs are needed, and we cannot predict when they will occur. See this 2018 lecture in Dublin - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwKu9Tj2dRs - which is already linked in the article.

3. The article states, in the views section, that "Shanahan has advocated that such AGI should be taught human empathy". I don't recall ever saying this, as such, and it does not accurately represent my view. (The issue is very complicated and nuanced.) I note that the source on this paraphrases something I supposedly said, rather than quoting my exact words.

4. The article states (again in the views section) that "As of the 2010s, Shanahan characterizes AI as lacking the common sense of a human child". This is an accurate representation of my current view. So the date could be amended to reflect this. I note there is no source for this in the article at present. I would suggest this:

Murray Shanahan, Benjamin Beyret, Matthew Crosby, and Lucy Cheke. Artificial intelligence and the common sense of animals. Trends in Cognitive Sciences, 24(11):862–872, 2020.

That paper is open-access and can be found here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364661320302163 — Preceding unsigned comment added by MPShanahan (talkcontribs) 08:32, 1 July 2022 (UTC) MPShanahan (talk) 19:18, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I implemented some of your requests. Sourcing was considered, and whatever was suppored by existing sourcing was not changed. PK650 (talk) 09:31, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
