Both species in this genus, Nannoptopoma spectabile and Nannoptopoma sternoptychum, were reassigned to the genus Hypoptopoma by Aquino & Schaefer in their 2010 paper Systematics of the genus Hypoptopoma Günther, 1868 ‪(‬Siluriformes, Loricariidae‪)‬. FishBase and Catalog of Fishes accept this change. The genus has therefore been rendered defunct. XenoVon (talk) 22:58, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
