The contents of the Newsletter of the European Mathematical Society page were merged into European Mathematical Society and it now redirects there. For the contribution history and old versions of the merged article please see its history.

The EMS Newsletter is the European Mathematical Society's counterpart of the AMS Notices. Since the AMS Notices has a separate Wikipedia profile, this should be the case for the EMS Newsletter as well, as it plays equally central role in keeping the general mathematical audience up-to-date with the developments in the field of Mathematics (on behalf of the EMS!) Additionally, I just noticed that the Wikipedia editor Willsome429 in his own page is writing that "... I joined a few years ago and primarily edit articles related to motorsports and American football...". Thus it is reasonable to assume that he/she might not be knowledgeable enough with respect to what are the notable publications in the Science world. The Newsletter of the European Mathematical Society is one of the most famous and widely circulated periodicals in the world, for the general Mathematical audience, along with the Notices and the American Mathematical Monthly of the American Mathematical Society. Almost all Abel Prize and Fields Medal laureates give interviews to the EMS Newsletter after being awarded these prizes. This happens because the EMS Newsletter is the representative of the European Mathematical Society, informing the public and popularizing events that take place in the Mathematics world at large. It is known among Mathematicians that this periodical has a very large audience and hence it would be reasonable for Wikipedia readers to be able to get some more detailed information about the EMS Newsletter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.206.64.5 (talk • contribs)
