Do Russia, Ukraine, and China qualify as Old World wine producers? Their winemaking industries are not as old as Mexico or Chile, although in Crimea wine has been made for many centuries. --Ghirla^-трёп- 23:05, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The sentence "This is because Old World winemakers believe that the unique terroir-driven characteristics of where a wine comes from plays a more distinct role in shaping the resulting wine than the grape variety itself." in chapter Influences is backed by a citation, but most certainly wrong: The reason for labeling by terroir probably is, that labeling wine by terroir is more specific than labeling by grape variety. Stronger even, generally a certain grape variety is implicated by terroir. In texts describing the terroir-labeled wine - most prominently the ones on the bottles -, grape variety is generally referenced as primary attribute. Tomdo08 (talk) 12:37, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
