The Lavison's

The French Lavison,s family had to escape from Marseille in 1793 as the Revolution was quickly approaching the town in her worst and terrorizing aspect. They had been living in the Provence area since our latest known ancestor Antoine de Laveison 1578-1648. They hade been land owners for centuries and then merchants and of catholic religion. And so was Joseph Lavison, merchant in Marseille born in 22.3.1767 in St. Chamas who embarqued on a small merchant ship with his father, Jean Joseph, wife Marie C. Paul and two sons of three and two years. They arrived in Trieste, port of the Austro-Hungaric Empire and went on with their trades. The once little Joseph Antoine Jacque Etienne Lavison born in Marseille on 1790 became very rich and in 1829 was made permanent Director of the Insurance: R.A.S, on 1833 he made return to Marseille as the General Consul of Austria Empire in Marseille. His brother Paul Martin Prosper, born in Marseille on 1791 lived in Trieste until 1814 then was for called at the Court of Nicolas I of Russia were he was given the title of Count and nominated General Consul of Russia to Egypt. His son Edouard was born Alexandria on 1827. He was also granted by the Czar Nicolas the title of General Consul to Egypt. He became very close with the Khedivè and represented also the Italians who lived in Egypt. When the newly born Kingdom of Italy decided that Florence would become the new capital he started to build a Palace in Florence in Piazza della Signoria. He had an enormous fortune and had previously constructed a Palace in Ramleh in Alexandria. He lived in his florentinian palace for many years and possessed a Villa in the outskirts of Florence. He died on 1889. One of his sons, Wladimir, born in Alexandria on 1855, father of my grandfather Edoardo, married on 1880 with Marie Elisabeth Honorine Jacquart had four children , my grandfather was born in Alexandria on 1885 therefore had only 4 years when his father time while his olther brother Wladimir was only 6. It was at that time that the Palace was probably sold to the Assicurazioni Generali. Documents from the Italian kingdom's archives are at disposal.
