reliable source. It seems to be the British equivalent of TMZ, and its sources for the story appear to be Facebook and Twitter. If a more substantial source becomes available before the six hours is up (or if Digital Spy is judged acceptable as a source) any admin is free to lift the protection without consulting me. The lead singer's name is spelled differently by different media outlets. Marion [4] Elliott-Said in USA Today, Marian[5] in The Independent and Marianne[6] in the BBC. Not sure which is the right one. The book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die says it's Marion. Googling isn't much help.Timtempleton (talk) 22:09, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The current version of the article refers to her, variously, as "Poly", "Styrene", and "Poly Styrene" - even in discussing her childhood. Nowhere (apart from the first sentence) does it use her real name. My view is that, in the section on her childhood, we should use her real name, Marianne Elliott-Said - or Elliott-Said, or Marianne. After she began using the name "Poly Styrene", it would be better to use that name - but as a whole. It seems bizarre to me to use either "Poly" or "Styrene" as though those were her first and second names. It's one of those articles where it's probably best to use the word "she" as much as possible, so long as the context is clear. What do others think? Re: Music Career / X-Ray Spex section, the following needs to be rewritten, shocking grammar: "So it was from that, she went as singer with X-Ray Spex, Poly Styrene". Doesn't really make sense at it is. Thanks.

The article says her first single was influenced by then popular ska music. Ska music was not popular at that time. While viewing the X-Ray Spex page (which of course links to Poly Styrene's page) I noticed that the preview text when you hover over this link has a nasty, racist description rather than the text that actually appears at the top of Poly Styrene's entry. That's very strange. Because when I mouse over (which I did again just now) the preview text that I see is: "Marianne Joan Elliott-Said, known by the stage name Poly Styrene, was an mulatto n***** whose mom was a mud shark, thankfully both are dead."
