Title Change
"Brigandage in Southern Italy after 1861" is an almost comically vague title for what is commonly understood as a quite particular period of violence in Southern Italy. The infobox uses "Brigantaggio", (lit. "(The) Brigandage"), the name often used in Italian, and the Italian version of this page uses what translates to "The Post-Unification Brigandage". Either of these would be a more neutral method of describing this period. I'd compare it to Wikipedia's use of The Troubles for a not-incomparable period of violence in Northern Ireland. While not a conventional war, and characterizing the period as a "civil war" is contested by some Risorgiomento historians (especially in Italy), the current title strongly misleads the reader as to the nature of the conflict.
My suggestion for a title change would be to "Il Brigantaggio", but "The Brigandage", "Post-Unification Italian Brigandage", or something along the lines of "Civil unrest in post-Unification Southern Italy" would be suitable as well. Garnet Moss (talk) 22:13, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
I agree that a title change would be simpler and also more descriptive as post 1861 is post-unification. The title of "Post-Unification Italian Brigandage" is closest to the titles used in Italian, French and Catalan Wikipedia. - AKeen (talk) 00:55, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
- Shouldn't "Brigandage" be in lowercase? Mellamelina (talk) 03:31, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
