I suggest this entry *not* be merged with "Islamic calendar" as has been proposed. Reasons: The difference between a lunar and a lunisolar calendar are consequential, eg. for whether a society operates on an agriculture-based time cycle. The Arabic and Islamic calendars have significant practical differences. The Arabic and Islamic calendars have different histories and correspond to different circumstances. Even the Julian and Gregorian calendars, which are two versions of the same calendar, have separate entries: whereas the Arabic and Islamic calendars are not two versions of the same calendar, merging them would seem inconsistent. The suggestion to merge the calendar entries may be based on an erroneous popular conflation of Arab culture or identity and Islamic culture or identity. 138.51.244.92 (talk) 19:00, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Biruni wrote the names as: Suvan instead of "wabṣān" / Hantam instead of "ḥanīn" / Zubba instead of "rubba" / Nafiq instead of "nātiq" / Huva' instead of "warnah" / others are the same... Böri (talk) 09:10, 25 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
