Keep care! The article Priene doesn´t fit to the devolopments in research of the last 100 years. There are fundamental errors in history, urban design, etc. I´m sorry it's to much work for me to correct it in English as a foreign language.

Probably the cleanup template is not what is needed here: the problem is not that the article is "ungrammatical, poorly formatted, confusing, etc." (WP:CU) but that it comes from the 1911 EB and is therefore out of date.

I have incorporated the Ancient Cities infobox for streamlining, added up to date language reflecting the history of Priene, and have begun to use solid references rather than the previous quick variety. Monsieurdl 15:12, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I continued to expand the box data and descriptional data. The history section needs some expansion and the links converted to cite web. That's all for this session but I'll be revisiting for another at some other time.Dave (talk) 21:03, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just spent quite some time to improve this article. I feel I should explain some of my possibly controversial changes here:

• I migrated this article to the Template:Infobox ancient site. This is probably the most widely used template for ancient/archaeological sites on Wikipedia, so I thought it would be better if this article uses it too for the sake of consistency. There are a few minor issues with this:
  • This template doesn't have an entry for altitude, so that's why it's no longer in the infobox. We should add an entry for altitude to the template.
  • The previous infobox mentioned the founder to be Aipytos. I couldn't find his name in the article's text and didn't see a source, so I removed it altogether and replaced it with "Theban colonists".
• I replaced the existing images with higher quality images I found on Wikimedia Commons (I also added a link to Wikimedia Commons). In specific, the first image in the infobox had an overbright sky. The replacement image has a nicer blue sky, even though it's perspective isn't as good as the former I think this one is more attractive. The new photo for the theater has a better perspective and nicer colors, even though it does have a person in the center of the theater. I also added a photo of the bouleuterion, aligned all images to the right and fixed some captions.

I hope my changes don't ruffle anyone's feathers. I'd like to compliment my fellow editors for their work. This article is quite good already compared to the deplorable state of many other articles on ancient Greek cities. --AlexanderVanLoon (talk) 15:25, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
