Honestly, this article is a mess and it's clearly written as a fanatic article rather than a encyclopedic one. Also, the wording and grammar are horrible and need to be fixed...I'll try to help fix and hope that more people may do as well. Udonkome (talk) 03:38, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As many other i to consi Morientes to be a great attacker and as them i hope that he and Raùl are (still) friends despide them playing for different clubs in La liga. But i can not see why i or enyone else should read about there friendship (or lack of same) in this article.

First, this is not the place to debate about this. Here we have to debate about the article itself, how it is presented, if the info it contains is correct and so on. Raystorm, May 15 2006, 23:21h

Who edited the appearances/goals part? I don't think it's very correct, since a football magazine of like two months ago says he scored 180 goals, and I doubt he scored 82 goals in such a short time. Maybe the magazine was incorrect, but could someone at least explain this to me? Were it only league goals, or what? Oh, and on a sidenote, Torres is probably one of the most overrated players of the moment, and certainly not better than Raúl. Now I'll follow Raystorm's advice as well. ;) - DraugenCP, October 2 2006, 0:01h.

I've changed the stats back to correct several times but someone allways change the to wrong, as of 3 October 2006 he has played 416 games and scored 181 goals acording to lfp.es witch provide stats direct from the referees.

Players scoring in three world cups

The record amount of players who have scored in their third world cup during the current tournament, plus the count by ESPN which I find inaccurate, plus the recent edits in this article saying he was the 4th ever to do it, then the 8th, etc. lead me to enter my list here; according to this list, he is the 18th player to score in 3 World cups. I hope someone can comment on this, on whether this is an agreeable list, or correct any errors. Thanks in advance. ChaChaFut 02:59, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Raúl's scoring stats from the youth teams

In the early 90's, I believe Marca had printed Raúl's youth stats from San Cristobal through Real Madrid as well as his international youth career. I haven't been able to a copy. Is there anyone that has the info? Raul17 22:34, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

raul really is a great player and i think real madrid shouldn`t let him go because he is the symbol of the team. also, he has done so much for real madrid that i say he should end his career in madrid.

According to this article: http://www.record.xl.pt/Futebol/Internacional/real_madrid/interior.aspx?content_id=804163 Raul has scored 323 goals for Real Madrid, which does not coincide with the actual number os goals described in the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.244.126.64 (talk) 00:07, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Raul Madrid

If my information is right Raul scored those 194 goals only in Spanish League. Playing for Real he scored much more(also in Champions' League, Spanish Cup,...). Raul of coarse is one of the best players in the world and currently the best in my opinion. Today by saying Real Madridthe first that comes to your mind is RAUL. No one can compare to him by his dedication on the pitch, by his conception of the game and thinking. After Zidane's left he is definitly the best in the world. I hope he will never leave the greatest club in the world and will end his career there.

Merger proposal

Hi there, just to notify you that there is a request for List of goals scored by Raúl González to be merged into this article. J Milburn (talk) 23:01, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Source: goal.com

According to this article [1] (from: goal.com), it says:
"He (Raul) was the youngest player ever to score 50 goals, reaching that number at the age of twenty on the third day of the 97/98 season. Also, he was youngest to get to 100 (at 22, on day 33 of 99-00) and to reach 150 (at 25, day 24 of 02-03)"
I think this information on Raul, however apply to La Liga only! G.nguyenquang (talk) 23:53, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goals Discrepancy

In the achievements section it says he has scored 200 la liga goals and then says he has scored 63 champions league goals; which means he must have a minimum of 263 career goals, but the stats section only shows 200 goals. Can someone please clear this up.190.58.3.112 (talk) 01:22, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Something wrong in the table

Raúl has scored until now 296 official goals, not 290. There must be also the goals in the intercontinental cup and spanish and european supercup. Look at spanish wiki!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.24.248.98 (talk) 12:39, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The table doesn't add up. The 97/98 goals add up to 12, not 13 as stated, and the Madrid (first team) years add up to 321 (320 if 97/98 is corrected). I've tried to find other sources to corroborate, but that brings further issues:

League goals in 04/05 was 8, not 9 according to espn. There is no record in the 96/97 copa del rey season of the one claimed goal Both 98/99 & 99/00 CL seasons are overstated by one. The three goals scored in the 1997 supercopa are missing from the 97/98 "other" column.

The net total of all that is a total of 319.

End year for international career

I don't get the reasoning for continuously removing the end year for the international career. It doesn't imply that he's retired from international football, just that he hasn't suited up for Spain since 2006. Which he hasn't. And it's disingenuous to suggest that his international career is active because he "only" missed one major tournament. Since September 2006, he's missed the bulk of Euro 08 qualifying, the Euro 08 finals, World Cup qualifying, Confederations Cup and friendlies. That's a lot of important matches.

Leaving the end year blank suggests he still has an active international career. That's not the case. Yes, he's eligible for international duty, but that's true for everyone, including players who have announced their retirement. Theoretically, Diego Maradona could name himself to Argentina's squad of 23. And yes, Del Bosque has suggested he's open to calling up Raul, but every manager does that when the press asks about a popular player who doesn't fit in his plans.

And hey, if Raul gets named to the World Cup 2010 squad, great! We'll just remove that pesky "2006". Otherwise, that's when he last played international football. Mosmof (talk) 22:56, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honours with Spain?

The "all time goalscorer" with spain shouldn't be listed on Individual section? Bobby Charlton or Thierry Henry are the top goal scorer of their respective countries and this isn't mentioned as an "Honour" with their national teams. It's kinda sad that this great player didn't won anything with Spain but not a reason to put this type of individual distinctions. XavierHD (talk) 16:21, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The entire article is one big mess

It is so far below the standard of any Wikipedia article I have seen in years. It is badly written and keeps on getting updated as either a fan page/a personal attack depending on who is doing the editing. The language is downright deplorable in terms of meaning, grammar and spelling. This needs a HUGE clean up! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.148.82 (talk) 01:53, 2 April 2011 (UTC) I agree ... this article is horribly partial and based on individual opinion. In particular the section on Euro 2008 is ridiculous and more "what might have been" than "what was". It is well recorded that Raul never got selected for Euro 2008 on the basis that he would not be used because a) he was out of form and plain not good enough at the time and b) playing Raul forces constraints on the rest of the team (and ... whisper it ... c) Raul likes to "run" the changing room). For the record ... I couldn't have more time for Raul! Kjmacphee (talk) 21:16, 13 April 2011 (UTC)kjmacphee[reply]

lead paragraph needs editting

Raúl González Blanco (born 27 June 1977 in Madrid, Spain), known simply as Raúl, is a Spanish footballer who plays as a striker. He currently plays for German club Schalke 04.[3] Raúl had spent most of his career playing for Spanish club Real Madrid up until joing [sic] Schalke in 2010 and is the club's all-time top goalscorer. Raúl is a three-time winner of the UEFA Champions League and has long been the competition's all-time leading goalscorer. He left Real Madrid on 25 July 2010, having scored 323 goals in 741 appearances

This gives the appearance that he is Schalke's top scorer, this should be clarified as he most clearly isn't, and the spelling error highlighted --67.21.103.35 (talk) 02:58, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Career UEFA Champions League Goals

He owns the career record of goals at 71, but the table displays a career total of 75 in continental(European) matches. And no combination of seasons equal 4 goals from another European league. The 2 goal seasons are all Champions League competition, as well as the 4 goal seasons. No 1 goal seasons exists on the table, so I'm not sure how it all adds up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.103.236.86 (talk) 14:07, 30 October 2014 (UTC) ~~Cameron from USA~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.103.236.86 (talk) 14:12, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
