According to the newest SydneyLink document by the NSW Government, the CBD Rail Link will be incorporated into a proposed metro named "West Metro", which includes a metro line from Parramatta to CBD, then up to North Sydney and Chatswood via a second harbour crossing. There are no more details about this however. --

On 19 March 2008, the project was cancelled at the time of the announcement of the North West Metro. It has subsequently disappeared from the TIDC and CityRail websites. A future second harbour crossing may reappear in the form of a 'West Metro' however that project will likely be substantially different in form and route.
