PSP Firmware

This article is now out of date, as you cannot use Remote Play with a PSP with anything less than 3.90 firmware (or Custom Firmware equivalent) as I had to wait a while for CFW 3.90 to come out to be able to play Remote Play. Every time I tried, I was told my PSP neeed to be updated (it had 3.80 CFW). Basically whenever the PS3's firmware is updated, you have to have it and the latest PSP firmware to use Remote Play. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.129.210.61 (talk) 14:00, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Playing PS3 games on PSP via Remote Play

I heard rumours that you will be able to play PS3 games, with PS3 graphics capabilities on PSP using Remote Play. That would be nice...

Never heard of that. Don't think it's even possible with the PSP missing the L2 and R2 buttons. The text from the games wouldn't even be visble because of the PSP's screen size.

from what i understand tham manin gamind aspect is things like weapons loadouts, health or spped, just a a privete suplimental screen for the main game.

Remote Play support in-game has been possible since the 1.6 release of the SDK. Apparently this 'costs' 8MB of memory (and a free Cell I imagine). nemo 14:11, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
you can play some ps3 games/demos on the psp i did. remap has been done for lacking buttons everything is all right by now. Cliché Online (talk) 09:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Robustness?

In what way is Remote Play not "robust"? nemo 14:11, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't invented by Nintendo. Had they done the exact same thing, or even a crippled version of it, it would be deemed robust.

what is this? what does robustness has to do with this? Cliché Online (talk) 09:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can't really do much with Remote Play. You can't play most PS3 games or any PS2 games, nor can you watch DVDs or Blu-Ray disks. 67.184.14.87 (talk) 04:47, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Does plenty for me. Being able to access all my videos and music wherever I'm near a wi fi point is a huge deal as is using PlayTV to watch tv stations or catch up on recordings. Certainly one of the most useful features I've ever seen for a handheld. Sure hope they've got it still in the new NGP with it's 3G connection to increase coverage. 86.23.47.51 (talk) 22:47, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to say whoever made the nintendo remark hit the nail on the head. Wii U managed to rip it off completely and pretend Nintendo invented it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.93.7.110 (talk) 06:14, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blog from IGN & Tokyo Game Show

Don't know about verifiability by now you can power on and off the PS3 with Remote Play according to this blog...or something like that... see this...if it hasn't changed by the time you read this... http://ps3.ign.com/articles/821/821212p1.html  ! --Scottymoze 01:54, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Its already been implemented in PSP Firmware 3.72 and will be in PS3 firmware 2.00. [1] - mohaas05 11:08 4 October 2007
it works as i speak, you can turn on and off your ps3 from the psp. Cliché Online (talk) 09:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get it

What, do you have to be near a turned on ps3 to use this or can you like take games with you the bus? Sunnan (talk) 12:40, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • All you need is a network connection and a way to power the device. PSP and Vita can run off the included battery and support WiFi, so a public WiFi or tethered phone or portable hotspot can provide the connection. For using a PS3 or PS4 on a bus you'll need a UPS of some sort, unless the Bus has 115vac power outlets. xnamkcor (talk) 02:56, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PC emulation

Discussion about emulating the RDP style protocol, perhaps using a hacked version of VNC to talk to a PS3 from your PC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.174.171.21 (talk) 19:12, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remote Play

I noticed Remote Play list includes the title MediEvil, which is in fact a PS1 game. I suggest it be removed, as there is already a blanket-item for all PS1 games. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.42.242.209 (talk) 19:38, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PS3 Remote Play

I know remote play for the PS3 only let's you do PS1 Games. Wrong! It still doesn't do PS2 games, but it DOES do 2 ps3 games. One is the game "Lair". The other one is this poker game I don't remember the name of. Um, I wonder for you Remote playing kids out there if you were playing a PS1 game or a movie file and your mom tells you to turn of the tv and go to bed you could just put it in remote play and go under your covers with headphones and do it. Now all they gotta do is make LittleBigPlanet usable in remote play. Or someone find a glith. They also gotta let you do it when the ps3s off. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.53.157.41 (talk) 23:43, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If the ps3 were off how would it connect? I see what you want, but it's just not easily done —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.155.76 (talk) 12:14, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Game list

The PS3/PSN game "Anarchy: Rush Hour" is compatible with remote play. http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/58475/Anarchy_Rush_Hour_available_for_download_on_PSN_inEurope.php I've played it myself but should I get photos/videos of it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.254.86.220 (talk) 10:42, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BF3

It's compatible with Remote Play. But..The problem is, I don't have the sources, at least, I already tried it. Oh yeah, Bulletstorm are also compatible with Remote Play. Plus, Playing BF3 and Bulletstorm in Remote Play is horrid..You maybe don't know how to look around..sprinting..knifing and using grenade launcher (a.k.a n00btube)- 111.94.139.51 (talk) 08:30, 13 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PS4 to Sony Xperia

The PS4 can connect to Sony Xperia phones and tablets staring with the Z3 line. We need to add that to this article. Source.[1]

PS3 to PS3 Local or Internet?

PS3s are "cheap" enough now that they cost the same or less than a Roku(99 USD). Can I remote connect from one PS3 to the other? Specifically the earlier "Slim" and the newer slim ones with the slidy(Technical term) top. xnamkcor (talk) 02:59, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't mean to be rude, but:
  1. WP:NOTAFORUM
    - this is a place to discuss the article, not the subject itself.
  2. PS3 to PS3 is not a form of Remote play anyways, so it wouldn't even belong here even if it was a help forum. Sergecross73 msg me 03:01, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
