A page on the island of Rhodes already exists! Why are two needed?--Gilabrand 14:26, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many people get confused because both the island and the capital city of the island share the same name. This page is exclusively for the city of Rhodes and not for the whole island. A good example is Palma, the capital of Mallorca, and the island of Mallorca that have different pages.

If that is so, the title of this page should be changed to Rhodes Town. The pictures and text are very similar on both pages - so you are not helping, but adding to the fact that "many people get confused."--Gilabrand 21:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC

Altough not responsible for what is written in the whole wiki project i respect your opinion and will try to short out the supposed conflict. Note that as the city was and is the island's centre some historical aspects refer to both. Thanks for advising.

who gave the estimate that education facilities are inadequate? Where is the reference? Please include the reference otherwise remove the "old" and "inadequate". Most of the schools in Rhodes Town are new, apart from some old but well preserved and renovated the last years. If you like I can include a list but I find it not necessary. I am afraid that the article is biased.

It states with no references speculations about the quality of education, transportation. They cannot be presented this article as formal information.

Also the Roman Period reference does not refer to Rhodes an Asian province nor does the wiki article linked. Please explain.

I completely re-wrote the transportation section which read like a subjective-opinionated travel article ("roads are poor", "parking is difficult", "bus service is inadequate in the winter" etc) rather than an encyclopedia entry. Hi I'm trying to find an old tribe in India name called in English "ROR" but in indian national language hindi "Rod or Rhod or Rhode" . As I know This tribe(caste) known in Indian Kingdom since 3000b.c. may be more or may be less. As I know Aryan peoples come from Europe and stay in Indus Valley (Indo-Europen) (Indo-Greek) IndoValley has history of 3000 B.C. If you know more about Rhodes History or what Tribes on that time living on the Rhodes Island.And why it's name Came Rhodes in 4000 B.C. please let me know. I also Find Rhurort in German too which could be (Rhu + ROR + t).

Many years ago, before I had access to the Internet, I read that Rhodes was, to the ancient Greeks, an oligarchy: it had exactly six thousand citizens, and no one was added to the citizen body unless a citizen died with no heir. I can't at the moment document this, but I think it worth mentioning. The Greeks were very interested in forms of government. Athens was twice put under oligarchic rule, once with three thousand citizens and once with five thousand, but managed to shrug it off each time.
