I've been updating the article. The band members are referred to by last name throughout the article. Is this standard convention, or is using first names acceptable? --Slow Graffiti 05:50, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Virtually all articles that deal with people refer to them using their last name. Look at Tony Blair for example. For the article to be encyclopedic, last names should be used (with notable exceptions, eg Bono). When first names get used, it is no longer encyclopedic. --One Salient Oversight 11:48, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, many I've seen on here use the first name - that's why I asked. Thanks for the clarification. I can now go back and change these to follow the guideline. Loz isn't nearly as famous as Bono, but nonetheless it's what everyone refers to him as. Would such a nickname (used almost exclusively, rather than real name) be suitable for use? --Slow Graffiti 09:03, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nowhere Era

Was the song that ended most sets not 'nowhere' rather than 'seagull' Also can we really say the debut album is what the fans consider the best, that's subjective and needs to be backed up with some kind of evidence. GBA was their biggest album in sales terms.

Yes - I saw Ride six times in the "Nowhere era" and they always closed with Seagull or (later) Chelsea Girl. Also, I would agree that most Ride fans considered 'Nowhere' to be the best album, but obviously that is subjective and difficult to back with evidence. All I would say is that Ride's profile continued to rise following the release of 'Nowhere', whereas following the release of 'Going Blank Again' (which many found disappointing) their profile took a nosedive.

A couple of nitpicks of my own: the Today Forever EP wasn't *recorded* in March 1991, that's when it was *released*, and (subjective again) I don't think it's at all true to say 'Sennen' was a crowd favourite from that EP, I would say that was 'Unfamiliar'. 86.145.38.127 21:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC) jf (19 Sept 2007)[reply]

Anyone else interested in seriously improving this article?

If you look at my work on King Crimson... I could seriously revamp this one when I'm bored one day. But not today; I've done enough wikiwork for one day.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 19:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unverified suggestion about Nirvana influence

Where is the evidence for this statement?: "It needs to be pointed out, also, that the band had listened to and had been influenced by the album Nevermind by Nirvana as they recorded their second LP". Smells like POV. Please provide a reference if possible, else maybe we should remove this remark. Thanks. Walkingmelways (talk) 13:04, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
