Uncited stuff

There is quite a bit in the article without clear citation. In particular, how is it the "leading entertainment network in Russia"? It's the number four network in audience size. Their slogan is "first in entertainment", and they don't do news & politics, but still I'm pretty sure their entertainment programs aren't as widely watched as those on Channel One or the Russia Channel. - Jmabel | Talk 06:48, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, some of this seems like sheer hype: "STS offers the best TV shows to its audience." "Top quality series by the biggest Hollywood producers became an important part of STS’s brand. CTC or STS?

The normal practice in English when referring to acronyms from a language using another script involves transliteration into English letters. For example, the
Объединённое государственное политическое управление
are referred to as the KGB and the OGPU, not the КГБ and the ОГПУ.
On this basis the acronym in English for Сеть Телевизионных Станций should be STS rather than CTC, which merely looks like the Russian acronym СТС. Writing CTC would be the same sort of error as writing CCCP in English instead of SSSR for the Russian name of the USSR.
However, perhaps this company is a special case since it is registered in the US and, normal or not, does uses the name CTC Media there. (Or at least, Wikipedia says so.) If so, then the article should discuss the issue of transliteration. If not, then it should be moved to STS (TV channel), all references to CTC within the article should be changed, and the issue of transliteration should be mentioned when the US-registered company is named.
