Not really much of a discussion, but the new "Closing" section is a direct copy of the news article that is referenced at the end of it. It needs to be rewritten in an original manner, not a direct copy. --Cygnusloop99 (talk) 04:16, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Demolition

I heard that the building is to be demolished now that it is closed. Could anyone find a source for that? The Mysterious El Willstro (talk) 02:35, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Per KTNV, there are no plans. So finding a
source could be difficult. Vegaswikian (talk) 06:07, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply

Post-World War II era

The article previously stated: "Its closure leaves only the

remaining from the post-World War II era." The citation was:

Pratt, Timothy (2011-05-16). "Las Vegas' once-glamorous Sahara hotel-casino closes". Reuters.

While the source does indeed say that, it's only true for a bizarre interpretation of "post-World War II". Every resort on the strip was built post-World War II; we're still in the post-World War II era, and we will be in that era forevermore. I changed it to indicate that the Tropicana, the Flamingo, and the Riviera are the only pre-1960 resorts left on the Strip. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:16, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anchored?

What does "The Sahara anchored the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip" mean? 86.132.223.12 (talk) 16:09, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Sahara and SLS should have separate articles

They really should, the Sahara was a historic resort and deserves its own article and the SLS is a different thing and should have it's own article. The only reason for them to be combined is commercial and it's dishonest. No other casino article redirects to the one that replaced it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a02:c7d:4ef2:2a00:9c70:6cbb:e3e8:4d8e (talkcontribs) 11:47, October 27, 2017 (UTC)

It's the same building, though with extensive renovations. Other casinos in the same situation, like Barbary Coast/Bill's/Cromwell and Imperial Palace/Quad/Linq, also have one combined article. Toohool (talk) 05:17, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If the two totally separate entities of the Sahara and the SLS should be combined because they shared the same foundations then maybe every article on a country should be combined with all its historic iterations; in fact maybe every geographical location should be combined into the same article as they were once part of the same landmass. The other combined locations noted were not nearly as significant as the Sahara in either fame or influence and in this case is as unwarranted as if Desert Inn redirected to the Wynn. The combining of the articles is as the other poster said, very shallow, dishonest and purely commercial. Thankfully we'll soon be rid of this testament to Sam Nazarian's ego. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:6BB8:3200:45FF:CD28:35E8:92AB (talk) 13:30, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Separate articles, again

DaFuze164 (talk · contribs) just split the Sahara into a separate article, though we haven't done that in the past where the new casino shares the same property without being a teardown, especially now that the property has been renamed back to its original name. I don't think there needs to be two separate articles here. Starting a talk page discussion before doing any AfDs. SportingFlyer T·C 23:44, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just because you haven't done it in the past doesn't mean you shouldn't do. It just means you haven't really thought about it. They should be 2 separate pages since the original Sahara officially closed on May 16, 2011. While the SLS opened 3 years later and before that, the property was closed but was being fully remodeled. The only thing that didn't change was that the building wasn't demolished. Everything else was though. DaFuze164 (talk) 02:10, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • We're going to be moving this entire page to Sahara Hotel and Casino in a couple months, so it doesn't make sense to split the old one out at all. I know the original was liquidated, but having two separate pages will be confusing. SportingFlyer T·C 05:11, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Should be kept as one article, which is common practice in a case like this. The SLS name had a short run when considering the resort's 67-year history. I think the SLS history and renovations do not make up enough content to warrant a separate page, and it would be better to keep it all together.  AJFU  (talk) 20:41, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

House of Lords

Every Del Webb Sahara (Vegas, Reno, Tahoe) had a steakhouse called the House of Lords. Why? 2A00:23C3:E284:900:15E7:7985:C625:63BB (talk) 15:37, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Photos of the "new" Sahara?

Anyone local around, who could take a few new pictures? The only recent one got deleted these days, because the licensing tag was incorrect. Particularly the new Sahara signage and the entrance would be of interest. Interiors are nice but not as important. Can you help? --h-stt !? 14:03, 17 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
