  • I created this separate page so that it would fall into the Mountain WikiProject, but the main info is still on the Sandia Mountains page. --Spireguy 16:43, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have expanded this redirect into a full encyclopedic article with information distinct from the mountains article. Cheers! Kehkou (talk) 12:52, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"The Crest"

@Kehkou: it doesn't seem to me like there's good support provided for this crest being commonly known as just "the Crest". The reference provided is to a page specifically about the Sandia Mountains, which mentions it as "the Crest" 2 or 3 times (although also calls it fully Sandia Crest 3 times). This seems to me the same as referencing a page about some town on the Mississippi/Thames/Amazon rivers that just calls it "the River" because it's the major river within that context. That would not be justification for claiming on those articles that it's called "the River". Do you believe that a book about climbing or similar could say just "the Crest" without the context of Sandia or New Mexico and expect readers to know what crest they're referring to? The fact that this didn't even have its own article until you created it last year suggests to me that it's unlikely. -- Fyrael (talk) 18:37, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Fyrael You have a very good point; indeed the article was split from Sandia Mountains from a decidedly local POV. I agree that it should be mentioned once as in the lead, and any other instances should read "Sandia Crest".
Feel free to make any improvements to the article; I welcome the outside perspective so the article can be up to WP standards.
Cheers
