Council of Florence

I believe that the Council of Florence was held not in Santa Croce but in the cathedral of Florence, Santa Maria del Fiore. The present church of Santa Croce was begun in 1294 and consecrated in 1442 by Pope Eugene IV. The Council of Florence moved to Florence from Ferrara in 1439. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dmaldari (talkcontribs)

Photo changes

Hi! i have taken away one pic of the facade, for there were 2 nearly identical. i thinked it would be better to show a variant. If you wish to retrieve the former image here it is: Image:FiIMG 0189 bordercropped.jpg. i decided to keep the older photo instead of the newer because the older shows the part of facade and campanile uncovered.regards! Name Change

I went ahead and moved this page over to an English name (was

Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze), as I have done with the Basilica of San Lorenzo, Florence. Since these churches are better-known by their Italian names (Santa Croce instead of Holy Cross) I kept those, but I changed Firenze into Florence and converted the prepositions. I will go about fixing any double redirects next. --Stomme 18:34, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply

Redirects don't look right

Basilica di Santa Croce di Firenze redirects to this page. It should be the reverse imho. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.24.59.200 (talk) 18:21, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Location is not correct relative to Duomo

This basilica lies south east of the Duomo, not south west. See Google Earth, etc. Sailmariner (talk) 22:12, 2 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In literature section is incomplete

The "In literature" section is incomplete. It's a single, short sentence and it doesn't even end in a period. I don't even understand it to correct it. --Lawfare (talk) 06:39, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Relics/bones of the famous. unearthed and mixed together in the flood of 1966?

I have heard from a tour guide of this building, that the remains of many of those famous persons supposedly buried there, were flushed from their tombs due to the flood of 1966! And all of these relics/bones were mixed together! If this is so, then perhaps some thing should be written about this event?

Construction start date

The date in the article is shown as 12 May 1294. The church's website says the date was 3 May either 1294 or 1295. [1]

I tend to trust the church's website to get the correct information. AkilinaL (talk) 12:55, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
