My understanding is that in infantry battalions only the Lieutenant Colonel and Adjutant, perhaps with other battalion staff officers, were mounted. JF42 (talk) 10:27, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding that section, it is surprising to see it in this article. It would be easier to find and more appropriate if it was moved to the United Kingdom section of the article titled Service dress uniform https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_dress_uniform Dreddmoto (talk) 22:32, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
