A consensus needs to reached regarding the status of Socotra. Based on the Al Jazeera article cited in the history section, the UAE has taken some kind of control of the island. This is regarded as a quote "occupation." A request for page protection has been made, and I will refrain from further edits on this page until that request has been processed. I apologize for my repeated reverts likely contributing to the edit war. Editors that are removing info from the infobox are encouraged to reply below in an attempt to reach a consensus. Based on the link in your reply, it appears that while the UAE claims that they are "playing a balanced role in the Yemeni Socotra Island to establish peace and stability," the same link also states that the Yemeni Prime Minister is opposing the UAE's actions. In English Wikipedia terms, that is a dispute, which is what the article indicates. What the article does not state is that the island is in the sole control of either party, which appears to be your belief Rainclaw7 (talk) 17:40, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are adding the UAE flag under the infobox: Country. While administration or control may or may not have been taken by the UAE, it does not mean the governorate is part of UAE territory. The UAE did not submit a claim that this governorate belongs to their territory. The dispute is about the presence of troops on the island, not on which country does the island belongs to. In another example, the Abu Musa island is disputed between both Iran and UAE because both parties laid claim to the island, this does not correlate with Socotra since no claim was made on which part of territory does Socotra belong. In yet another example, the Island of Iwo Jima was under the US military control until 1968, the US did not claim the territory as part of US country. Adding Socotra as part of "UAE country" invalidates this articles credibility on which part of the world does this island belong to. The Yemeni Prime Minister statement came opposing the increased presence of troops on the island, not the annexation of the island by UAE troops.

You are also basing your edit on Al Jazeera resource. The resource which calls that Socotra is "UAE occupied" is Al Jazeera, which is a Qatari based news agency highly critical of the Saudi led coalition. Read Al Jazeera controversies and criticism. If thats the case, we can add a resource from Gulfnews which is a pro Emirati news agency which says that Socotra welcomed UAE troops. I am providing a secondary resources written by non-Emirati, non-Qatari news agencies which shed light onto the different views of the conflict. Jerusalem post writes a good non biased article about this issue. Please keep Wikipedia articles neutral and check Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view. Thank you. Socotra is under the control of the

Even though the island may or may not be under the administrative control of the Emirati military, it still remains part of Yemen sovereignty. The UAE government did not claim this island to be part of their territory and hence, it still remains part of the Hadi led Yemen government. It is unclear what edits you want to be made. There is already a written section on the UAE takeover of the airport and seaport in the article. Unless the UN issues a statement that states this island is under the occupied control of the UAE, it cannot be said that it is occupied territory. Wikiemirati (talk) 15:52, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
