The article currently shows her name in Georgian as სოფიო, but virtually all current Georgian-language references to her appear to identify her as სოფო. Google, for example, currently shows "about 50,000" hits for the quoted string "სოფო ნიჟარაძე" — but only 12 hits for the quoted string "სოფიო ნიჟარაძე" (including this English Wikipedia article and some foreign Wikipedia articles). I note that the name was changed from სოფო to სოფიო on January 16 (see here), but I'd propose changing the Georgian form of her name in the lede back to სოფო, and adding "სოფიო ნიჟარაძე" in parentheses after her birth name in the infobox. Can someone please add an IPA pronunciation for her name? I don't know if the "ph" in "Sopho" is supposed to sound like an "f" or simply "p-h". -- Andreyyshore (talk) 17:18, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In case someone else can get to this before I do, it's [sɔpʰɔ]. The "ph" (Georgian letter ფ) is a "p" with a slight amount of aspiration. Georgian doesn't actually have /f/ as a separate phoneme; F's in foreign words generally become ფ [pʰ] in Georgian. Linguists disagree as to whether or not Georgian actually has stressed syllables, so there could be an initial stress (or not). Richwales (talk) 17:55, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

She is internationally known as Sofia Nizharadze. In Georgia we sometimes call her Sopho, because the name "Sofia" has many variations in Georgian language, but the name of the article must be Sofia Nizharadze! She even participated in Eurovision song contest under that name! SOFIA! Dear wikipedia editors and users, I will change the name of the article and let it be "Sofia Nizharadze".
