guitar tunings corrected. op had gotten confused over the guitar in standard notation being written an octave higher. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.68.166 (talk) 03:11, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the citations banners

I removed the citations banners, since the content of this article is neither cutting edge science nor contraversial, and IMO banners are rather ugly.

Name for standard tuning

I know nobody uses this term, but A9sus4/E describes a guitar standard tuning. —SPESH531Other 02:12, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

non-global assumption

I think there should be a preface that "standard tuning" is standard to Western styles of playing these stringed instruments, which are not all the stringed instruments being used in the world. African and Asian musical genres in particular may have alternative standards for their instruments. 67.66.94.91 (talk) 05:03, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Superfluous?

This article seems unnecessary in view of the much more extensive article on

Stringed Instrument Tunings
, which covers all of the instruments and tunings given here, and distinguished "standard" and "alternate" tunings.

This article is redundant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 23:10, 21 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed.
