Expansion

Steve Miller Band is a relatively well known band, on par with CCR and Lynyrd Skynyrd. This article should be expanded IMO Έρεβος 21:09, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded the history section.

The early years. This site http://www.gangster-of-love.com/bio.html is where I got the information, can somebody help me out a little bit with citation? I'm a little new here... Thanks, Guitargodconnor 14:17, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nicky Hopkins

Nicky is in the "Former Members" list, and yet he's not listed in the Timeline diagram. Either he's been forgotten from the Timeline list, or he was never really an actual member of the band which I think is the case. Maybe "Former Members" is misleading? someone needs to expand this

That link leads to spam.

This page really does have to be expanded. The albums from '68 and '69 are great stuff, and are largely forgotten. MarkinBoston 02:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Living in the U.S.A.

I've added this album to the discography. While the Wikipedia page for the album states that it is not an official album, stevemillerband.com lists it in their discography; and the discography on this Wikipedia page lists other compilation albums. If anyone thinks it should be removed, I won't mind, but please state your reasons. 148.87.1.171 (talk) 08:18, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

What genre are Steve Miller Band other than Blues Rock? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Audiofile65 (talkcontribs) 20:08, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think SMB should be considered Heartland Rock and possibly Southern Rock. - Wolfinator-x —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.59.126.254 (talk) 23:10, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Best of 1968-1973??

I have this compilation album that goes great with the '74-'78 hits package--how come it isn't in the discography? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.151.1.253 (talk) 14:31, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see how this 'Band' article, and the musician's own page (as per this section's heading), radically differ in content. OK, they are not mirror images of each other, but I suggest either merging the two as they presently stand (taking the best referenced and formatted pieces of each) OR basically altering both of them to provide definite distinct entities. Presently it is hardly a seamless join, but looking at each page it appears, to me, to suggest one is rather mutual to the other. Any other thoughts ?

I think the band and the musician are notable enough to have their own pages like The Spencer Davis Group and Spencer Davis pages. But, Steve Miller page needs some cleaning, since it's mostly talking about the band rather than the musician himself, possibly that makes one think that these two pages could be merged. Altering both of them to provide definite distinct entities sounds reasonable, methinks. ~ Elitropia (talk) 08:49, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sections.

Should there be more sections. For example. The first section to say how they formed, the second for their history, and etc. This would improve the article. Happymeal33 (talk)

Book of Dreams Picture Disc

I formerly owned a copy of this album ("Book of Dreams" with the picture imprinted onto the disc), and am interested to know more about it. Is there any way to learn how many of this disc were made? Were any other Steve Miller LP's made with pictures on the disc? Any other pertinent information about it available? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.101.61.187 (talk) 00:49, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Loose Thread

The article says Miller suffered a broken neck, but there is nothing about the severity of his injuries or his recovery. Presumably he didn't become a quadriplegic. Aren't there any sources on his injury? 173.248.252.31 (talk) 01:28, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pegasus

I was only basing the section on the cover art of their albums. If you look at the pages for each of those albums, you will notice the pattern. AmericanLeMans (talk) 23:08, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could well be - however, without a
reliable source, it may look as if it is an editor's supposition, rather than a verifiable statement. Moreover, see Wikipedia:No original research
- "Articles may not contain any new analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position not clearly advanced by the sources".

Seems somewhat pointless when you consider the total of the releases by the band. While the albums mentioned do have the pegasus commonality, my guess is it's more a label decision for the albums that are greatest hits compilations. Indeed, if you ignore the compilation albums, the horse image is not all that common with the released albums.THX1136 (talk) 21:27, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Removed section since there were no citations to support notability.THX1136 (talk) 16:47, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What about touring?

This article seems like a stub without mention of Steve's touring - he was the top grossing band for many years when touring revenues were included. I hope someone with resources could research those numbers? The Steve Miller Band kicked many asses in concert over the years! Nickrz (talk) 22:34, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Greatest Hits 3-disc set?

Okay, I've seen a CD compilation in a store that was simply called "Greatest Hits". It was a three-disc set, and the cover art was almost exactly the same as Greatest Hits 1974-78, except predominantly orange/yellow rather than blue. Anyone have any info on this they can add to Wikipedia? -Skinr — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skinr (talkcontribs) 05:21, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Drug Bust?

Wasn't this band (including Steve Miller) busted in England in March or February of 1968 for posession of heroin, cocaine and marijuana? If so, shouldn't that be noted in the article? --50.141.213.227 (talk) 05:48, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In Glyn Johns' book, Sound Man, Johns talks about the incident which coincided with the group's first visit to do the recording for the first album. He had barely met the group at the time, but they were charged with 'importing drugs and possession of a firearm'. Johns was asked to be a character witness and, hopefully, post bail for the group in magistrate's court. I'll see if I can work the info in in a way that makes sense in the context of the article. As the article stands right now it is in need of appropriate expansion. THX1136 (talk) 18:32, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
