Age

It's been a large dispute at Rae_Sremmurd. Sorry for not bringing it up here as well. There's been some discussion there, including Talk:Rae_Sremmurd#Ages.

This https://zhiphopcleveland.com/4457745/rae-sremmurd-behind-the-scenes-with-shorty-da-prince-bet-awards-exclusive/ interview makes it appear that they may not want to divulge their real ages. --

To be clearer, I don't think we should list his year of birth or age if we cannot find sources that we agree are reliable and we are certain he's not been intentionally keeping it private. See

Billboard says 1995.

CA birth index says 1993, but is a primary source that we cannot use alone. --

TMZ (1994)

Their Facebook page Age 22 (1995). I didn't notice this last time I looked, and it's not clear that it wasn't written in a previous year. It certainly helps alleviate the privacy concerns. --

WSVN-TV Miami Age 19 in October 2014 (1995).--

An ip has added 1995 with the billboard ref. Given the other sources above, I'm going to leave it for now and see what response we get. --

It’s 22 I guess XmutBoi (talk) 00:14, 19 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd prefer a source with a clear consensus for being generally reliable for disputed info in a BLP. Allmusic doesn't fit that criteria from my review of the many RSN discussions. I've asked for a summary for Allmusic reliability at

From my OR, I'd agree it's '93.
WP:DOB says we be very careful with such situations. He's indicated it's '95 and has indicated he'd rather not divulge his true year of birth.
Biography.com is a better source. Library of Congress entries are poor sources for such information. There's considerable discussion about AllMusic (45 discussions including the currently open discussion), and my conclusion that last time I reviewed them all is that it should not be used for disputed biographical information.
This is a POV and BLP dispute, so I don't understand the purpose of quoting from WP:V at all. Instead, we have to decide whether we have the required high-quality sources, if we can use Wikipedia's voice, and make it clear how we're deciding to resolve the contraditing information from multiple sources.
That said, I'm fine with leaving it with '93 sourced to biography.com for the time being. If someone comes along with BLP concerns, then BLPN or an RfC would be good next steps. --

I'm seeing a lot of back and forth on the year of birth, but no one's offering any sources or adding to the discussion here. Including both is an option. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 18:16, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored the biography.com ref with an archive url. --Hipal (talk) 20:11, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Potential ref

Has some well-researched early history. It includes links to a number of other articles that should be considered for references as well. --

Their old website. Probably not much use as a reference. --

I am seriously thinking about merging Swae Lee's page into the group he's on, Rae Sremmurd, because it's not that good of an article if we're being completely honest, only somewhat accurate, almost no solo information, and also Slim Jxmmi's article is redirected for pretty much the same reason. Maybe when Slim's article is created again, Swae can have an article of his own, but for now, I seriously want this article to be redirected. --Rockallnight5 (talkcontribs) 04:16, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Slim Jxmmi is not notable as a solo artist, unlike Swae Lee who passes
WP:MUSICBIO. Just because one of the brothers doesn't have an article of his own, doesn't mean that the other can't have one. Also an article can always be improved, good articles don't just appear out of nowhere. DovahDuck(talk

Brown or Lee?

This article refers to him a lot by his last name (Brown) instead of Lee, his stage name and the name he is notable as. I may be bold and change all the instances of Brown to Lee. E.g. look at Lana Del Rey's page. She is referred to as Del Rey rather than her real last name (Grant) in the article. -Melodies1917 (talk) 20:30, 4 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Occupation For Swae Lee

Is Swae Lee mostly a rapper or a singer? Does anybody here know? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.70.37.196 (talkcontribs) 21:33, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What matters is what the reliable, independent sources say. --
