"These areas are not large enough to outvote the powerful Labour machine in the working class parts of the constituency"

Just over a five-thousand majority hardly justifies this.

Why not? It happens to be true. Telford is quite a polarised constituency you know; Priorslee is so Tory that it's one of very few wards in Telford & Wrekin that Labour don't run borough election candidates in, while some of the other wards are about as Labour as Priorslee is Tory (but turnouts are nowhere near as good). Not mentioning the Labour machine would (and does) give a bit of misleading picture as to what the constituency is like; would it be better if it was "These areas are not very large and have so far been unable to outvote the powerful Labour machine in the working class parts of the constituency"?

Priorslee cannot be described as a town, a historical village/hamlet sure - but since the inception of the new town Priorslee is simply a small village surrounded by a very large new housing development within close proximity to the central business district of the new town - the wording on this section needs changing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.127.187.98 (talk) 02:04, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Seat in 1997

How does Telford get to be listed as "Labour Hold" when Labour didn't hold seat before as it didn't exist? Perhaps a new Template listing new seats as "Labour Win" (or Tory, LibDem, etc.) is needed. Fanx (talk) 10:06, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE - 2015 General Election

Listening to results from BBC Radio Shropshire this morning, I have updated the information to reflect the seat has changed hands, from Labour to Conservative, by a smaller margin than at 2010; however, please check the vote figures inserted in the 2015 election table as I am not sure I heard one of the results for one candidate correctly.Cloptonson (talk) 05:35, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Xtommox is thanked for correcting the figures for Allan's and Wright's votes. I have just corrected the 2015 majority figure in the constituency History section.Cloptonson (talk) 20:17, 8 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
