If anybody looks
If anybody looks for what to add to expand this stub, how about, can terragen files be used in other 3d programs?
- I don't think they can be used directly. You can export them to certain image formats, and from said formats, which could be used by other programs. Hell, about a month ago I did some renders from some maps from a game that uses heightmaps. You can also export them to 3ds files, but I think you need a certain plugin.--Drat (Talk) 11:53, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Good news then. :) I can imagine combining two different programs with two different rendering programs would be difficult, but hell, it's worth a try. Thanks a lot.

Renderings in article -- reg'd or not?
Are the renderings in the article done with or without the registration fee for this tool? Cordially, Drieux 20:54, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Does it matter? The only difference should be output resolution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.184.241.144 (talk) 03:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Separate article for Terragen 2?
I just created the
- I don't think it should be split at least until Terragen 2 is released as anything other than a "technology preview". Normally only major software has separate articles for each version. Halsteadk (talk) 21:16, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
I've removed the reference to Terragen 2 as there is now a dedicated page for it following the final release. Pongley (talk) 22:41, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Change title to Terragen Classic
Someone please change the title of the article to Terragen Classic since I don't know how. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.97.61.246 (talk) 20:15, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Merge proposal
User:IPAddressConflict proposed an article merge back in September. Since there was no comment, I have begun a merge.
From April 2009, there was an article for Terragen Classic at
There are very few featured articles in computing. None deal with a single version of software. OpenBSD (4 versions in 1 article) and Opera (web browser) (9 versions in 1 article) are two examples of success with the approach I suggest.

I don't know much about the differences, similarities and histories of the versions. I have done what I can and leave it to others to research the details.
I noticed that Terragen 2 was given credit for several movies that, judging by the calendar, may have been Terragen Classic.

Terrain generation?
Wasn't this the original description of this type of program before (late 1990's, early 2000's) it was termed a scenery generator thanks to advancements in 3D cards? The name would make a lot more sense, then. Terrain generator 73.181.82.26 (talk) 07:57, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Orion's Arm
In the Orion's Arm scenario, the Terragen are future descendants of humanity. Maybe a mention of that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.8.196.90 (talk) 09:12, 19 December 2021 (UTC)
