Second paragraph possibly outdated

It appears to me that paragraph 3 (13th season now expected to air in the 2007-2008 season in addition to season 12 as result of the Writers strike), is in contradiction with the timeline given in paragaph 2, especially the time period for filming, whose timeframe (April-May)places it as earlist it could possibly broadcast would be in the summer 2008 season instead of the 2007-2008 fall-spring season. I think the timeframe for some of the events in the second paragraph is outdated in light that those references dates were pre-strike. Jon (talk) 02:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Impossible to know for sure at this point; they haven't even started filming with it. If the starting city is accurate though both the racers and the locals between Graceland and Memphis International need to be very careful, statisicaly Memphis was in the top 5 worst drivers for a major city several years running when I lived there. Real spoiler

There's a race spoiler which it actually would be start this month. -- 07:06, April 24, 2008 (UTC)

I found the real spoiler at realityfanforum website. It was actually started in Los Angeles last April 22nd, two teams were spotted (2 blondies in pink and a young male/male team). -- 07:51, April 25, 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.212.13.237 (talk)
Another spoiler has surfaced in which a team has been photographed at Chicago's O-Hare airport on the night of April 22nd. Based on RFF (Reality Fan Forum)'s deductions based on flight combinations, it is very likely that The Amazing Race 13's first destination is Sao Paolo, Brazil. Additionally, travel books in an airport book store on Argentina in LAX were missing. You can head to RFF for this information in its actual context. DanielTAR (talk) 10:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Reality Fan Forum is valid enough for me; they have even been complimented by more "reliable" news sources for having tracked racers as they race. Maybe you should at least take a peek at it before you go around declaring it to be "unreliable". Hooky6 (talk) 22:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I have been looking on, and Aleen and Madchester are right. Hooky6, it doesn't matter that one of the sources that printed it is reliable. Leg 2

OK, I'm not sure whether they have to use plane to a place for about 800 miles and 15 hours of travel (as Google maps information). This is pretty optional, they still can travel bus. --Aleenf1 15:15, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

CBS has only given us pit stop info, but let's not extrapolate/guess at what destinations they'll be visiting in between those stops per
WP:RS. For example, when the teams visit New Zealand we don't know if they're so solely on North Island or if they'll cross the Cook Strait from South Island like The Amazing Race 2. We shouldn't list too much information on specific future legs, unless it has been provided on a weekly basis by TV Guide or another reliable source. --Madchester (talk
) 15:48, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

That is a very good policy to go by. About the use of a plane to do the second leg: Yes, they do fly and the reason you can be sure (this time) is that previews have shown teams at the Fortaleza airport. This is one of those times where the shot can be matched up with known images of the airport and its unique design. In general, we never really know what the mode of transport is for a future leg. It's not that important since in one week it gets confirmed one way or the other. Spoiler/research info is very evanescent here at Wikipedia. And, about the third leg, well, yes they do fly in again. And that is confirmed by the interview of BVM where he says they land at El Alto airport and immediately go up to wrestle with the Cholitas. So if you want to go ahead and add that airport it would be okay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chateau d'If (talkcontribs) 19:10, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Is it alright to provide links to The Amazing Race wiki at the Wikia site for more detailed coverage of each leg of the race? Results of Leg 5

Okay, should be clarify, the situation of Leg 5 is very identical to Season 2's Leg 4, where the speeding penalty is only accessed during Pit Start at Leg 5. Here, Phil is officially granted the 3rd place to Terence & Sarah, so it is become official. Furthermore, Phil later in the end of the show stated that the penalty did not affect the outcome of Leg 5 of the race. So, this should be take count, whatever the official website describe. --Aleenf1 17:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I think the current note sums it up, that they received at penalty at the start of Leg 6. Sam Blab 20:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

For both TAR and TARA speeding penalties are applied to the following leg. It doesn't affect placement on the current leg. So Terrence and Sarah placed 3rd this leg, but will be the 5th team to begin the following leg. Other penalties like Mark/Bill taking inappropriate transportation or Freddy/Kendra taking an additional clue are incurred on the same leg. The current note properly describes the situation. --Madchester (talk) 21:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

I think the note should read "penalized for receiving a speeding ticket". If every team that has ever competed on TAR was penalized just for the act of speeding – without being cited by law enforcement – I would imagine that a lot of teams would be penalized. I don't know what happened with Leg 4 of TAR 2 or on TARA (didn't become a TAR fan till the end of Season 9 but I did watch 1 and 7 on DVD) so if there's something I'm missing please correct me. Team events

It does not matter that previous seasons do not have these - they should. If I was watching the other seasons again I would do the same to them. The goal of episode summaries in Wikipedia is to summarize everything that happened in the episode, not just a description of the tasks. There is absolutely no reason to leave out information that perfectly fits within a summary of a TV episode. Every episode should include not only the tasks, but what the individual teams did for them as well as any other events, not necessarily relating to the challenges. Reywas92Talk 00:46, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

"The goal of episode summaries in Wikipedia is to summarize everything that happened in the episode"
Per
WP:TRIVIA
) that became a black hole for all and any detail about the Race. If there are any notable plot details they can be embedded into the filming/development section. For example, there's a good section discussing CBS pre-show announcement about an "unprecedented mistake" and how it materialized into the missing passport(s) in Russia.
N.B.... I don't see the point of adding frivolous details like the Divorcees accused Starr of throwing their sports bra from the balcony. It also leads to
NPOV issues of describing such events in an unbiased manner. We can't add our own commentary or biases with the current format. --Madchester (talk
) 01:50, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
You are misinterpreting what I did and WP:NOT. That is NOT indiscriminate. What I have added is in NO way a trivia section, and duh, no frivolous details, but a plot summary is more than just the tasks. I know not everthing should be included, but everything that happened should be summarized. The passport was major and related to filming; they had to stay behind, etc. But plot details of what the teams do is not filming/development. When readers come here they want to have a complete summary of the episodes, not just the tasks and a table of the placings. An episode summary includes what the teams do. What I added may seem incomplete, which it is, but it does NOT violate WP:NOT: It is not indiscriminate. Reywas92Talk 03:00, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
It's indiscriminate in the sense of what level of detail of coverage makes sense to include outside of leg placements? Describing the order each team left each task? How each team did each task? The difficulties between tasks? Arguments between team members? The show also edits a lot so what we might write may not be accurate. The end result of each episode is the placements and if anyone took a fastforward, yield, or soforth. The rest should be left to sites with larger recaps (TWOP). --MASEM 03:33, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Unaired U-Turn on leg 9

A revert war has started over the location of the unaired U-Turn on leg 9. We need a reliable source for whether the U-Turn was located on the military base or at the bakery. (It seems more sensible for the U-Turn to have been right before the clue box at the end of the Detour, as driving from the base to the bakery, back to the base, and back again would have effectively put the targeted team out of the race. But TAR isn't always about "sensible.") --A More Perfect Onion (talk) 16:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

If a task/route marker/etc. wasn't aired on the show, then the editor needs a
reliable source to add it on the page. --Madchester (talk
) 21:27, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
The existence of an unaired U-turn is cited in the "Development and filming" section. It was revealed in a post-Race interview with Andrew & Dan. However, that interview only revealed that the U-turn existed on that leg and would have forced Dandrew to go back and do the Boots Detour - it did not reveal where the U-turn marker was located. Judging by precedent (3 previous U-turns held in the U.S. TAR), I would believe that the marker would have been located at the bakery. But then again, I understand that precedent is not a reliable source. KuyaBriBriTalk 14:21, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

The filming dates of TAR13 was initially dated April 22 - May 14, 2008. ApprenticeFan (talk) 12:06, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

How you get that date? Please specify source. --Aleenf1 13:31, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

One of the Detour options in Leg 8 in Kazakhstan

I saw a clip of that episode and it seems that on the Detour clue, on the Play Like Mad option, it does specify on the clue itself that one has to get a total of 200 Kazakh tenge to get their next clue, even tho when Phil narrates the specifics, he states the equivalent of $1.50. (According to XE.com currently, $1.50 in Kazakh tenge is just over 200 Kazakh tenge)

If you actually pause it at the right moment when Ken and Tina read the clue and show it to the camera, you will see that on the bottom of the screen, the clue does state "Earn 200 tenge..." and the next words are probably "...to get your next clue."
