I think the film focused on Harrow Road police station rather than Paddington Green. Paddington Green was a much later building.

Not really. Paddington Green had a police station in the 1940s (even if not the same building as at present.) The Harrow Road station was on the other side of the road and quite close to the old 'Coli' cinema where the fatal shooting was staged. Aeronian (talk) 14:42, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coliseum cinema I have deleted the following comment from the article but am planting it here as possibly helpful.

The Coloseum Cinema was still operating in 1960 when I was a copper at Harrow Road nick as I visited it several times. It was a bit of a flea pit then and I believe it actually closed down about 1962.--Robin Stevenson

When I left the area in 1954, the cinema was still operating (and known to us kids as "the Bughole", which confirms the "flea pit" attribution!) If it was still going in 1960 (and not closed in 1956, per the article's citation, we need to come up with some more careful research. The Westminster council will surely have a redevelopment record. As a matter of interest, our current source also points to this 1949 picture of the old place, a still from the film. Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 02:32, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More online refs: British History Online gives c. 1960 as the closure date; another local remembers calling it "the "Bug House"; the Reel Streets site has other pics; a "Mad Cornish Projectionist" thinks the closure was in 1956; the American Theatres on screen (updated 2011) says it's "Now an office for area churches"; Notting Hill History Timeline mentions "The Blue Lamp" at the end of some fascinating 1940s history. None of these has the definitive information we seek. Bjenks (talk) 03:52, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rory Lalwan at City of Westminster Archives Centre has written "Thank you for your enquiry. I’ve checked Kelly’s Post Office London Directory: there is an entry for the Coliseum for the years 1956-1960, but none for the following years. So a closure date of sometime in 1960 or 1961 seems likely. We do have the Paddington Mercury for these years and a report of the cinema’s demise may have appeared – unfortunately the newspaper is not indexed and it would need to be searched week by week. You, or someone acting on your behalf, is very welcome to visit us to search the paper." Alas, not having a UK address, I don't qualify for access and, anyway, it looks like a lot of work to clear up such a small issue. Bjenks (talk) 07:50, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
