This point is important, and should be in the article lead. I have a friend who has vision problems, so sometimes misses content on TV. She had to ask me to find out why the program was called The Closer, so it is not at all obvious. The official website states, "Brenda often closes her cases by eliciting a confession or cornering a suspect through sometimes-questionable methods." so that could be used. I'm going to create a page for the character Brenda Leigh Johnson. I'm thinking along the lines of the page that exists for Robert Goren. In fact, I'm going to use the template "Template:LawandOrderCharacter" since there is not a character template for The Closer. Right now, I'm working in the sandbox. Why does the International broadcasters table appear at the bottom of the page and not inside the corresponding section of the article? I just checked with Opera, Firefox, IE and Safari, and non of them show the table where it's supposed to be. Does anybody know how to fix this? --Salocin 14:55, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is that the source code for this page is good, but that something's messed up with the template used to create the table... But I'm not good enough in Wikipedia's markup language to find, let alone fix an error like this :/ --Salocin 22:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone has created a page for Salvitore "Sal" Provenza, linked Lt. Provenza. To date, Provenza has no first name (see the TNT characters page to verify). It's obvious this was made up, because the person didn't spell Salvatore correctly. The best evidence Provenza has no name was in "Grave Doubts" when his card was shown on camera: we saw clearly there was NO first name. In addition, Provenza does not use his first name on the tape in "Homewrecker" although all the others do. Duff's game has been to slowly reveal characters' first names. We just learned Commander Taylor's in 3.13, and didn't know Tao's until the beginning of Season Two.

To deal with this, I've moved all the content from the Sal Provenza page to a new one listing him as (No First Name) Provenza, and linking it back to the show page. I recently reverted two edits adding Provenza's first name. "Sal" is a nonsense that lives on these pages alone - someone probably pulled it out of his/her hat. "George" is the fictional name Provenza used while undercover; it was acknowledged in dialog in the episode "Dial M for Provenza." Later in the episode, Provenza was asked his first name and he refused to divulge it, saying it was "Lieutenant". Drmargi (talk) 17:31, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My husband and I have just watched the first season of Prime Suspect - and the show seems to have been the inspiration for the Closer! Jane Tennyson gets to take over a case but the people she works with are very suspiciout of her, in particular there is one man who is constantly out to prove she is incompetent and should be fired. She is brusque and quirky and her people skills are a bit off. Only that the entire concept of a high level supervisor doing interrogations is a crock--this one just carries the past Hollywood trend to the ludicrous. Wikipedia is edited by the people for the people so create an account, and join in ! its easy and can be fun most of the time. You can start with simple edits such as spelling mistakes and work your way up to more extensive tasks

I was unable to edit the notes, and so would like to point out an absurdity that perhaps someone else can correct. The relevant portion of the note reads: "The Division's name was first changed from Priority Murder Squad when it was recognized that the initials were PMS, with the resultant conflict over Chief Johnson's gender." First, Chief Johnson's sex is female—the belief that "gender" has a primary biological sense is an unfortunate effect of Americans' nervous desire not to fall afoul of the feminist thought police. Second, since Johnson is clearly a woman, there is no possible ground for any "conflict" about her sex or her gender (meaning her type of femininity)—it is not clear what "resultant conflict over Chief Johnson's gender" could possibly mean.
