Tagline translation

The French tagline reads "Le passé a decidé de repaire surface" - am I translating that correctly as "The past has decided to return to the surface" or is there a more subtle meaning of "repaire surface" along the lines of den / hangout as per the Lake Pub? Thus "The past has decided to hang around again" or something else? And is it "the past" or "those who have passed"? Andrew Oakley (talk) 16:34, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In french, the expression "reFaire surface" is about something forgotten, lost or absent for a long time, that comes suddenly out from the past and reappears, like an old disappeared friend, or some criminal the police never caught. It's always something unexpected. It can be used about hidden past events deeply buried, or in that case in deep dark waters. The use of this expression in the context of the show is to connect with the history of the town and especially the immersed part (upside, before the dam). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.202.93.42 (talk) 15:53, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Revenant

There's an existing and well referenced article on medieval "zombies", "revenants" which is enlightening and appropriate - I wish I could think of a better way to link it in than through the French translation - please help!

  • Support per nom. Broadcast in the UK under this title, and in the US as well so far as I can gather. PC78 (talk) 16:47, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support (albeit weakly). I was in two minds over this, given the show itself is/was branded under the French title (i.e. the title credits weren't translated). However, most English sources refer to it by the English translation and having the "French" part in the title can still make the distinction clear. I imagine nearly all English speakers would reference it by the translated name, rather than the native one. Bungle (talkcontribs) 20:30, 18 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
