Last name a type of animal

I removed the last sentence in the second paragraph, which said:

Salmon became the first player whose last name was a type of animal to hit a home run in the World Series; this feat was later repeated by Mike Lamb in Game 1 of the 2005 World Series.

Is the fact that his last name is a type of fish really important for anything? I don't think trivia is "encyclopedic", is it? --Ohms law (talk) 06:20, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
