Should not be characterized as "an alcoholic beverage"
Ideally, Green Dragon should be a strong tincture in which the amount needed to obtain the effects of cannabis should be small enough that the alcoholic effect is negligible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pithecanthropus (talk • contribs) 02:27, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
Making Green Dragon
In my personal experience, making the green dragon via the "Let the herb sit in a jar of alcohol" method is an absolute waste. Even after several days, the weed that you left in the jar can still be smoked for a decent buzz, meaning that the canabanoids have not quite been extracted yet. My personal reccomendation is as follows:
- Use an erlenmeyer flask sitting in a pot of hot water (not boiling yet).
- Take a rubber stopper and dril a small hole through it, top to bottom
- Take a reed from a bagpipes' chanter or an obo and insert it into the stopper
- Plug the flask with the stopper and place the flask into the hot water
- If you hear the reed buzzing, then you know there is vapour escaping the flask (too much heat)
Ferment like this for up to 2 hours, or as long as you can keep it up without blowing up your kitchen. This drink can be fatal, so keep it to 6oz or less.
- Just FYI, it takes months of sitting for the cannabis to turn into green dragon. Several days will not cut it. Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 11:48, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Based on my rudimentary knowledge of organic chemistry, it should NOT take more than a day or two to get the active ingredient of marijuana (
- "Obo" here should be "oboe". Anthony Appleyard (talk) 08:51, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Opposition to proposed deletion
The point of an encyclopedia is distribution of information. Today, someone asked me if i'd ever tried "green dragon". I had no idea what they were talking about. I searched the web and found this page. Now I know what it is. Purpose served. Six days from now, i'd still be looking.
Buds not Leaves
THC is in the Buds of marijuana, not the leaves or stems.
- trace amounts of THC are found in leaves and stems, but it is more concentrated in the buds. For smoking purposes, only buds are useful but the THC in stems IS viable for green dragon. Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 08:46, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Cannabis
We must link to
Merge -> Cannabis foods
I know it's called Cannabis foods, but... I think we should add a sort of 'drink' section. All these things don't flow so well as separate articles. JavaDog 14:04, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Further to the above, it should be noted that there is a section of 'Cannabis foods' entitled '
possible confusion
Not to be confused with Dragon Well green tea. icetea8 (talk) 04:39, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
