Article name

Hi US women's football followers,

The new Australian women's league has just been announced and it is also called the W-League. I have called the new article

W-League (Australia)
. What should happen with the article names?

Suggestions:

Comments?

I think for right now we should stick with
W-League (Australia). Right now there are more pages for the American W-League (and eventually I'll have more for past seasons), so I think the current configuration would require the least amount of change. This is a pretty bare-bones staff working on the W-League (primarily myself and JonBroxton), so at least I'd rather keep it as is for now. If it's decided to change this, I don't have any qualms with the decision, it might just take a little bit to get all of the pages and templates changed depending on other circumstances. Disambiguation

Not sure if I am going blind but wasn't there previously an italicised disambiguation sentence at the top of this article eg. 'This is about the North American League for the Australian League see W-League (Australia)' ? If there was any reason why this was removed? If not, any problems if I add such a sentence? --TinTin (talk) 10:55, 4 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Team sorting

Someone recently tried to sort all the teams by region, then by state. I reverted this since the regions used were never represented as such in the W-League conference alignments, but it got me thinking if there might be a better was to list all historical W-League teams in some way better than the alphabetical list shown. Would people be opposed to replacing the alphabetical list (or at least putting it under a hide/show box) in favor of a timeline like this or similar? New USL W-League

Since the United Soccer League announced the creation of a new version of the USL W-League on 6/9/2021, I propose that this article be renamed "USL W-League (1995-2015)" and a new article be created for the new version. GrouchoPython (talk) 16:28, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GrouchoPython: Technically, the new league is called "USL W League" (no dash), so we could just leave this article where it is and create a new article under that title. I definitely agree we need a new article though -- this article seems very confusing right now trying to cover both the old league and the new one. --IagoQnsi (talk) 19:06, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and created a new article: USL W League --IagoQnsi (talk) 19:31, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

USL W-LeagueUSL W-League (1995–2015) – New league formed at USL W League, so this page needs disambiguating since one has a dash and the other doesn't. Since the other league is active, it will probably hold Primary status. Discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Disambiguation needed for these. What's best? Comment New league should not be renamed with the dash. It should remain where it is. The league is referring to it as W League with no dash. The old league specifically used the dash. W-League with dash could perhaps be a redirect, but not the main page title. RedPatch (talk) 21:18, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
