Part of Fordham?

Should University Heights be considered a subsection of Fordham? I have occasionally heard this neighborhood classified as part of Fordham, and also many times as a separate neighborhood. I believe this area was called Fordham Heights before the NYU uptown campus arrived. -EJ220 22:53, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Many if not most Bronxites now refer to Fordham as anything within walking distance of Fordham Road to be honest. University Heights though is the official name of the westernmost community surrounding Fordham Road, it includes Bronx Community College. So West Burnside up to Kingsbridge Road, west of Jerome Avenue. North of Morris Heights and south of Kingsbridge Heights. The "official" Fordham area is between Jerome and Webster Avenues, south of Fordham Road down to East Burnside. Fordham-Bedford is north of Fordham Road to Bedford Park Blvd between Jerome and Webster. The name Fordham-Bedford is in newer usage in reflection to the changing demographics south of Bedford Park Blvd (was once just just Bedford Park). Fordham-Bedford now mirrors the demographics of Fordham. Bedford Park is on it's way there if not already. It's tricky but the borders are always changing as the demographics from the South Bronx push north. Wikiwiki718 (talk) 02:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There was a New York Times article on precisely this problem of imprecision of boundaries. I'd keep both articles. When I grew up in this area, it was called University Heights. Bearian (talk) 16:13, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
