Date of death

  • 29 July went Missing.
  • 31 July - Dead body found and death announced.

Should the death date be 29 or 31 ? --DBigXray 13:51, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • As you corrrectly state, we have a disappearance date and a body found date. We do not have a precise death date. The death date must be given as "July 2019" until such time as we can cite a reliable source that gives more precision. That will come, there's no rush.  Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made.
I know what Vokkaliga is. I dont want that link. You have to provide a reliable source that has an interview of VG Siddharth, where he speaks that he is Vokkaliga caste. If you can provide that link, we can add this information. If you cannot find, we cannot say anything about his caste. Until you provide that link, I am afraid I cannot restore the article to its original state. regards.DBigXray 11:15, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dude, look at the list which is at the end of the page. I am not interested in arguing over the topic.. Sir V G Sidhdhartha is always our pride. 210.212.205.19 (talk)

Yes, you can add Donald Trump and Boris into that list as well and take more pride. Unless the subject himself has disclosed it, we cannot assume what a random site says. He might even be a Buddhist who knows. cheers. --DBigXray 11:48, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bro,we dont care.. 210.212.205.19 (talk)

Then please dont bother posting requests here to add unsourced or poorly sourced information. Because people who are responding cannot complete your request if you cannot be bothered to share a reliable source. --DBigXray 10:23, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No source are absolutely genuine brother, I could have explained.. But doesn't seem worth it. ' Hegde's ' also belong to Vokkaligas. Check even that Wikipedia page if you want to. The shock of his death still persists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.12.82.214 (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DBigXray: Here is a source in which his caste is mentioned - https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/coffee-king-and-more/story-uwIzBLvzaw3UXvbLNNh2hM.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.206.88.136 (talk) 14:22, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is no statement from VGS, So I am not adding it. I have started a wider discussion at ]
Anonymous editors: Not everybody agrees with the caste system or how people are arbitrarily labeled. Amitabh Bachchan is not a fan of castes and probably wouldn't want someone to decide where his place is in society. Caste labels are also a highly contentious area, being very prone to inspire arguments. Thus, to prevent disruption and hostility, the community typically requires self-identification when adding information about castes. That means that the subject has to say "I am a member of ___ caste" or similar. Note also, that per
WP:NPA, we do not tolerate personal attacks at Wikipedia. There's no reason to call people names just because you don't like the answers you're receiving. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:00, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply

@DBigXray:

How could you assume his full name is that? I am not telling its wrong but, the same source mentioned even his caste a 'vokkaliga'.. There is confusion in the caste brother. If you give the full name then you have to specify.. Or else readers might assume the other ' Hegde's ' Please understand.. Even Sir Sidhdhartha would feel bad.. Its actually misleading readers..— Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.12.82.214 (talkcontribs)

  • Full Name is not a controversial piece of info, caste is. Did VGS ever mentioned his caste ? if he was so proud of it, I am sure he would have said that in some interview somewhere. All you need to do is to find that. If he never said that, I guess he would not feel bad about it. --DBigXray 17:28, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why are we doing this? Sir is no more.. What can be better resource than a genuine newspaper article by HT? I will be as humble as Sir Sidhdhartha.. Please brother, its necessary.. :@DBigXray: 61.12.82.214 (talk) 17:19, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: being discussed in the thread above. Please do not make new threads for the same discussion. DBigXray 17:24, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I told right there is ambiguity in the caste, the same resource tells why he didnt use the name. Please go through it.. https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/coffee-king-and-more/story-uwIzBLvzaw3UXvbLNNh2hM.html Please respect him, he built the starbucks of India.. please don't talk like that.. Thank you.

Two of the references you included are Wikipedia mirrors, which we do not use, because Wikipedia itself may not be used as a reference per
WP:UGC. Starsunfolded.com is a garbage website that we don't use as a reference. The remaining reference, Hindustantimes.com would normally be fine for most pieces of information, but as noted above, caste additions require self-identification. Any reference that you find that doesn't quote Siddhartha saying that he is a member of that caste, is totally useless. Also, please start signing your posts with four tildes like ~~~~. This is mandatory, and it will append a signature and time stamp so that people know who said what and when it was said. Like this: → Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:09, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply
