Can we find any sources about this? There aren’t any here. If we can’t find sources, then I recommend sending it to AFD instead of worrying about the name at the moment. Red Phoenix talk 18:02, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think we can assume that Roman Catholic basilicas are notable. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:46, 12 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly change the Article name to Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Joseph,Varapuzha

In the Liturgical year 2021, which is specially dedicated to the Patron of the Catholic Church- St Joseph by Pope Francis, the small but vibrant Church in Kerala too got an amazing gift from the Pontiff. The Head of the Church has recognised and announced the elevation of one of Kerala's oldest and most beautiful Churches as a Minor Basilica. In a fitting move, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Joseph's Church in Varapuzha, which was established in 1673 and served as a Cathedral until 1904 is upgraded and enlisted as a Minor Basilica by the Universal Catholic Church in January, 2021.

The historic Church which is situated in an island in a serene atmosphere in Kochi has been a solace to numerous people without any religious differences for nearly three and a half centuries. As numerous people used to come to this Church seeking the immediate Help and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mother and Her Noble and Just spouse St Joseph, it is considered as a pilgrim center. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4073:209C:5D89:F1E1:DC49:1A60:3183 (talk) 15:48, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In a letter dated December 11, 2020, the office of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments approved the application of the archdiocese of Verapoly to elevate the status of the former cathedral of Varapuzha to a minor basilica. As a minor basilica, it will be one of only 28 nationwide and 10th in Kerala, and the first one in the country to be named after St Joseph. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Calvin1825 (talkcontribs) 04:38, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
