I agree. I prefer the format of "Vilayet of X", but hesitated to chose it, because I saw titles of other article related with vilayet. Actually the format of "Vilayet of X" is major in sources. Takabeg (talk) 23:07, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

So is this really the most common English translation? It seems pretty infelicitous, given that the "White Sea" was the Mediterranean, not the Aegean, and the province included Cyprus. — LlywelynII 19:28, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fwiw, "Vilayet of the Islands of the White Sea" -Llc returns 23 results, including ones from the period. — LlywelynII 19:31, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
