Error ?

THe NYU fact is incorrect. He went to Mithibai College in Mumbai, did his BCOM. His father, Suresh Oberio helped him get a gig in films. Don't know if he went to Mayo in Ajmer. CAN YOU PEOPLE PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING ON THIS PAGE...!!!! (Comment by 202.190.116.215 and 24.31.185.18)

Then why don't you actually fix the article and add a reference? After all, this is Wikipedia.

I cleaned up the article enough to make it acceptable, but I don't have time right now to polish it. Any help here would be appreciated. Sanjayhari 02:57, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Charity work etc.

Just passing through, so I'm not going to edit the article, but (1) probably should mention his specific involvement in "no smoking" campaigns and (2) the family foundation named after his mother (Yashodhara Oberoi Foundation). Both citable from [1]. Probably, it would be worth someone looking more into material about his rather remarkable family; I know a cousin of his, and I'd say pretty comfortably that simultaneous dedication to career and public service runs in the family. - Jmabel | Talk 07:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hello The english is so bad on these biographies of most Indian movie stars, who does them anyway? I laugh when I read them. I don't have time to go through them and modify, just have my laugh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.184.76.97 (talk) 19:54, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

I propose that

List of awards and nominations received by Vivek Oberoi be merged into Vivek Oberoi. I think that the content in the awards article can easily be explained in the context of the biog, which is of a reasonable size in which the merging of Foo will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. I don´t think so. IT must not be merged. Must be editied with details as the actor is currently active and suppose to win more. Dr. Shahid Alam(Talk to Me) 10:16, 10 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nick name

@

MOS:NICK. Also see Talk:Nagendra Babu#Naga Babu for similar conversation. (Pinging @Ab207 and @Fylindfotberserk from there) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 11:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply

Though
MOS:NICK is all about common-English language hypocorism, the situation in this case seem a little different than what it is in the case of Nagendra Babu. Vivek is literally a truncated version of Vivekananda. If we are to follow the policy as it is, then probably we should have "Vivek" in quotes between his fullname, though personally I'm OK without it. I believe it is time for a customised policy for Indian/South Asian biography articles for such scenarios. I mean we know how it works in this region of the world. Not much different than English hypocorism. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:00, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply

What does the MOS:NICK and other related sections in that page say about the truncated names(, common English or otherwise)? (That page is a daunting one, read so many times that I forgot the count, and yet there's always something new) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 12:03, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We should look this from the perspective of a global audience. Let's say would a Dutch person be confused why the article title is different from the opening name? If yes, then it should be mentioned -- Ab207 (talk) 12:47, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Vivek Oberoi

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Vivek Oberoi's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Career

Looking at this page, it seems that the whole Career section is excessively long and detailed. Oberoi has acted in many films, but the text of the entry should focus on him and his performances, rather than each critical review of the films themselves.
