Voinovich and Solzhenitsyn

I seem to recall that Voinovich is a pretty severe critic of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn; it that is so then it eventually should be included in the article. Hi There 10:43, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've already added it to the Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn article, so I think that this section could be incorporated here, with some necessary rearrangements.--Vitriden 12:05, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know Ivo Voinović was a Serbian writer. When I get to heaven I will be sure to inform him of it.

Good luck! Don't be surprised if the answer turns out to be: Duh... If you end up there in the first place, of course ;) --79.101.65.159 (talk) 20:30, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vladimir Voinovich and Ivo Vojnović

"His ancestor, Ivo Vojnović, was a prominent writer from Dubrovnik." - that is not truth. Vladimir Voinovich never said or wrote it. --Montegorn (talk) 07:53, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Removed unsourced information"

It was perfectly sourced, taken from Voinovich's memoirs at his personal site - the link is still there: [1] There is no reason to place links after every single sentense. And his filmography is traditionally linked ti his IMDb profile which is in the External links. AveTory (talk) 11:26, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Correcting myself: it's not his personal site of course, but the excerpts are officially from his 2010 book.AveTory (talk) 11:36, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome to fix it. My very best wishes (talk) 03:32, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image

This edit. I do believe this image is out of place here. Yes, he received the award, and we said about it. What this image suppose to show? That he likes Putin? In fact, the subject is famous for his criticism of Russian state[1]. The image was imported by a banned user as one of several thousands of similar propaganda images he took from Kremlin.ru. My very best wishes (talk) 15:17, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Propaganda image or no, this appears to be an undoctored image of an event that took place. Voinovich didn't have to attend; clearly he didn't hate Putin as much in 2001 as he did in 2015. I don't think there's anything misleading about this image, and it shows an important event in Voinovich's life. Korny O'Near (talk) 20:31, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No one said he hated anyone. Why do we need this additional image? What it suppose to explain or demonstrate? Apparently nothing? We already provided image of Voinovich in the infobox. Do we need this image as an advertisement of his significance? I do not think so. My very best wishes (talk) 20:44, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It shows what he looked like in 2001, if nothing else... and the fact that an anti-Soviet dissident was willing to shake hands with Putin in 2001 may actually communicate quite a bit to those who are interested in Russian history. Korny O'Near (talk) 20:51, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
He was happy to receive the award and did not mind shaking his hand with Putin in 2001. This is all. Why do you think this is so significant to be illustrated by the image? An unsuspected reader may think he was a friend of Putin after looking at the image. That is misleading. Did you read any books by this author, for example that one? My very best wishes (talk) 20:57, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
OK, perhaps you are right. It is interesting. I only corrected the legend. My very best wishes (talk) 21:50, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
