Which King Herod is being referred to

  • Herod the Great - Herod was King at a time when another girl named Salome was around, though this isn't the same girl in question
  • Herod Antipas - Antipas never "officially" had the title of "King", though he is the person in Oscar Wilde's play being refereed to opposite of Salome
  • Agrippa I
    - Agrippa was mentioned as King Herod in the Biblical New Testament, not Antipas, though it is Antipas who is attributed to Salome, John the Baptist, and even Jesus Christ (sic) Himself!

Okay, then, I'm going to have to go along with Herod Antipas as "King", though I can clearly understand the misinterpreted meaning of the King title and the omitted proper term "tetrarch". Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:03, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
